khans chin one of the best at 140.

i glass chin would have meant lights out at the first big punch maidana landed. instead khans chin held out after about 15 power shots.

plus peterson has good enough power to shatter a glass chin. khan took some corkers from lamont and was still standing.

 

But running round with his hands stuck to his face. Not exactly Gatti stuff, is it?

 

I dont think its even Khan's chin that is the problem. Shots to the temple seem to bother him more - and seeing as his defence of just covering his face leaves him open to wide hooks around the guard, this is a bit of a worry.

I still feel Khan is a bit fragile - he can take a shot but he still seems at least a little affected when hit, to me. When you see someone with a truly good chin they eat a huge punch a barely batter an eyelid, then get right back to it. Don't see this with Khan. Even against Peterson, he takes a shot, then does his stupid bravado thing but I never find it too convincing. He durability is decent enough for the weight - but I think that a 147 fighter like Berto or Ortiz seriously hurts him.

His chin has definitely improved since his lightweight days but I'd still put him below average. His defence is poor, he can't mix defence/offence, he runs a lot, and he's wide open for certain shots. The thing that stands out to me about the Maidana fight (round 10) isn't just that he got hurt by a punch but, like in the Peterson fight, he got battered around like a kid. He was flailing around all over, no idea what he was doing, spinning around etc - he seems very susceptable to people bullying him. I think he'll struggle at welterweight because of this.

 

Yeah, I think with his lack of power, ring generalship and his poor defence he gets walked through at 147.

 

The best chin is the one that doesn't get hit.

 

Umm, Maidana is the biggest puncher in the division. Who else does he need to fight to prove his chin?

He literally cant fight someone at 140 with a bigger punch

 

He doesn't look strong on his legs when he gets hit with a big shot, I'm also not convinced by the bravado afterwards, I would be much more impressed if he didn't react and came back with a shot of his own.

Average chin at 140, could well improve at welterweight but the opponents being harder hitters will make the balance

 

This. Man, I can't wait till he stupidly decides to go to 147 lbs. There's some big punchers up there, unless GBP tries to steer him away from them, we'll see some fun KO's given to him...can't wait!

Maidana is grossly overrated as a puncher, and he had Khan on ***** street, ready to go.

Peterson is a light-hitter, yet he rocked the Konman several times.

Khan has a glass jaw, no question - as future fights will show clearly!

 

Pretty much agree with this. He can definately take a punch better but his defence seems to leak a bit too much for my liking. God knows what he was thinking when he was lying on the ropes taking wide hooks and uppercuts from Peterson without moving?!?!

Maybe a move up in weight to Welter might help him more?

 

its not neccessarily going to be a huge puncher who will ko khan. a clean accurate punch he doesn't see coming or walks on to, could ko him. like hoiw many were saying before hatton-mayweather, that floyd had little power and fragile hands etc.

he has a good chin and probably the biggest heart and surviving ability at 140. Ortiz has a similar level chin, but his heart is not there. He was dropped by maidana but didnt look as shook up as Khan did in rd 10. His heart and will is what kept Khan on his feet. And hgis pride would prevent him from taking a knee when it may have done him good - he knew the haters would've been out in force if he did that.

Margarito is what you can call having a good chin. Khan just has balls and an average chin
