A prime Larry is the greatest Heavy ever.

Tyson is my favourite fighter of all time, but he wouldn't of beaten a Prime Larry.

Foreman would destroy Mike. Knock him out inside 5 rounds. It's one of the worst stylistic match-ups one can think of. Big George eats him up.

Heck, i think even an old version of George would give him nightmares. In fact he did.

I think people overestimate tyson being a bad style for foreman based on the frazier fights

fraziers biggest problem was being a slow starter who seemd to take clean shots early in most top class fights he had - against one of the biggest punchers ever that equals an early ko

tyson is the complete opposite, a defensive and attacking monster at the start of the fight who may wear out a bit late on in the fight

i think hed knock foreman out early

If youre talking about the very best of Tyson, then this isnt even competitive for any part of the fight.

I think it would have been a good fight had it been around 2000/2001, in their respective forms.

    Not a chance.
Tyson was an explosively fast starter, was much faster than George, much more variety to his work, and much more elusive.
I think Foreman takes a bad beating here. Tyson just way to fast for him.

Mike Tyson is not knocking David Tua out. Not now. Not Prime, not pre-Prime. Not ever. Sure, he would beat Tua. But to say he'd knock him out is pure fantasy.

You'd think that of Larry Holmes. Tyson demolished him.

Like Cus D'mato once said, no small pressure fighter would ever beat George Foreman.

It would be extremely difficult for Tyson to walk through Foremans helicopter blades. Foreman fought tall and was extremely strong, perhaps the strongest man to ever step foot in a boxing ring. It's hard for these small guys to get to him because he throws them around like a ragdoll and has too many advantages.

He had a good jab and snapped his punches.

Foreman would demolarize Tyson. Catch him with too many uppercuts and hooks coming in.

Foreman would back him up straight away and once that happens it's over. There is not a fantasy match-up between two greats i'm more sure about than this one.

  11. Not Tyson vs Holyfield?

Or Hearns vs Mayweather? That would be cruel.

    Lol

Not even Hearns/Mayweather, mate. Although that's also another mismatch.

Styles make fights, and I'm confident Floyd would have less success against Tommy than even Muangsurin did. Anyway, let's not do that one again.

Prime Kid Dynamite Vs the best suited Evander for the job (as I find it hard to really determine his prime as he scattered great performances and different, ahem, physical attributes as different stages of his career and adapted his style to cope with dwindling speed) is a very, very competitive matchup IMO. Holyfield too tough and versatile IMO, but what an incredible fight it would be.

Im fairly confident Tyson hammers Liston, despite Sonnys jab, toughness and all-round game.

I love Larry, but those making him out to be infallible at his best are very much on the wrong side of the fence in the 'Holmes was underrated for years' brigade.

Yes, he was underrated and evidently one of the ten greatest Heavyweights that ever loved, extremely resilient in terms of toughness and ability, and had some very good wins in what remains an underrated era for the division.

But he was not some all-conquering beast  Tyson would finish him at any stage of his career because he was a better finisher and more complete offensive force than any of the other guys that had Larry ****ed in his prime (Shavers, Weaver for instance)

It might go longer, but Tyson was hardly weak down the stretch at his best. It wouldn't matter as Mike would starch him within ten rounds anyway.

Larry went on to have good performances after Tyson and proved his resilience (for example, badly wobbled by a jab from murderous picking Mercer years later, pulled himself together and went back to work just as he did at his best) had adequate preparation (that myth was shattered in the last few years as well) and he got waxed.

Tyson was modest post-fight, but he was wrong and he sets too high standards on himself. He f'n destroyed Larry, just as Shavers may well have been able to do in his second fight with Larry if wasn't such an unskilled oaf. Larry didn't have the opportunity to out think Mike and get himself back together....he got destroyed.

Doesn't mean I'd consider Larry a guaranteed loser against greater Heavyweights than Tyson. Styles make fights, and Tyson was a horrible matchup for Holmes.

And likewise, Im 100% sure that Tyson would be too fast for George.
Tyson was probably the quickest heavyweight ever, and was tremendous at closing the gap and getting his shots off.
He wouldnt hang around in the pocket to let George grab him.
Foreman wouldnt get his shots off 1st, and in my opinion, he would be trying to figure out where Tysons shots were coming from, and from that point, the fight would be over.
I also disagree about Foreman having a good jab, and Tyson never had any trouble with Holmes jab.
I genuinely believe George takes a real hiding here, as once he got hit, didnt react well, and with young Tyson, there was much more coming afterwards.

He did hang around in the pocket though. He languished on the inside against lesser fighters than Foreman.

That's the stylistic edge I give to Louis against Tyson.

You disagree with Foreman having a good jab, seriously? Are you insane?!? Also, when did Foreman 'not react well' when he got hit? He was solid, stopped only once (by the greatest Heavyweight of all time no less) and way past his prime stood up to shellackings from big punchers (Stewart, Holyfield, Moorer) as well as coming back from the brink when badly hurt against big puncher Lyle.

His confidence was shot a bit post-Ali, but once he'd got himelf back together he was never stopped again, even after years out as nothing but a canny middle aged man. George was a ****in' beast, and was very hard to put away.
