You probably watch female figure skating and have fantasy over American football players being able to do it better, only if they started early enough, that is...:lol::lol:

You might be new to the sport, but what you saw last saturday was HBO hype at it's finest, you should expect him to win his next coming fights, maybe for a showdown in 2013......it is called "The Great Black Hope"

Take your head out of your ass, in 4 pages all i heard from you is the same note."linebacker with a shot knee beat up a top 30 HW in timur"

Big ****ing deal....as many others have pointed out before me and non-surprisingly it went totally over your head, there has been much more impressive cases of late-bloomers who picked up the gloves late and become champions, let alone fringe contenders.
So far Seth Mitchel beat up a never has been barely top 30 and you take that as a proof that HW division is weak?

Pull your head out of your ass...Liston got out of the prison and became undisputed HW champion.

  6. and Foreman ****ed up a a Russian veteran for Olympic gold after only boxing for a year and a half. Foreman was 19 when he won the gold.

Everyone knew this thread was coming, and why it was coming.

But -- good job by the thread starter. The thread was coming, and he accomplished it very well. :good

Wikipidia is wrong, as it tends to be as it's edited by just about anyone. They are unrelated.

You seem to really appreciate the Olympian aspect of boxing...need I remind you of all the pro failures Olympics have produced? How about Solis? What about Audley Harrison? Alekseev? I could go on.

A football player is a great start to a boxing career in hw, where punch, punch resistance and fighting spirit are often enough to make it to top 30. A prime example of that would be Rogan and Peter, both guys lacking fundamentals yet managing to get by on punching power and strength of their chin. Boxing is not merely a sport, its legalized fighting, and in a fight at lower levels of competition, size + strength are often enough. So I assure you, most dedicated top echelon athletes from heavily taxing physical sports could do what he did. Half the NBA could get to top 50 spot, with the right management, a right trainer and a dedicated, physically gifted athlete.

However, once they get to the elite level, that's where better boxers start beating brawlers. Timur is not top level and that year of inactivity at his age cost him quite a bit. Face it, he NEVER looked so sluggish and lethargic in the ring as he did with Mitchel. The fact that he went life n death with Mormeck merely indicates that Mormek does not belong in heavyweight (btw, what life n death, I had Mormek win 8 rounds to 4) elite, and is going to get destroyed by Wlad. If you brought this up for me to say that Wlad chose a terrible opponent, i will say it. Yes, The frenchman does not deserve to be in the ring with a Klitschko, but then again, who else agreed?

My prediction to you is that Mitchel will be spoon-fed out of shape has been's, maybe a few jorneymen, and then be demolished by either top 10 guys like Povetkin, Boytsov, Helenius etc or get beaten in a spectacular fashion by K-bros. Either one of them will make short work of him and remind him why this is Boxing, not Football.

Why do sports fans get so uncomfortable when White athletes make inroads upon endeavors/events that have traditionally been the Black man's domain?

So many of us are just pathetic, brainwashed lemings, neutered by decades of polotical correctness and social engineering.

The Ibragimov fight was the first glimpse I ever caught of Mitchell and truth be told, I\m impressed. Fast hands, nice ''oompf'' on his punches and a good mentality honestly what's there not to like? Oh and the post fight interview was amazing, it's nice to finally have a eloquent soft spoken humble guy who is in a tough sport and dedicated to go as far as he can. If only more guys were like that.

Mitchell is the rare exception that has made a strong transition from football. He's kind of a natural considering his lack of experience. And he's an extremely hard worker. Glad he's here doing his thing. He'll do well. Don't think many other footballers could achieve this. He would easily beat Tommy Z. Z nearly lost to a class F heavy last year and I think he left boxing for good.
