Personally i think the OP has a point. Whilst i have no problem with it and loved the brutality of PRIDE im not sure MMA can ever become truly mainstream endings such as those. It is after all the reason why the UFC tamed its rules in the first place to make it more palatable for consumption. Then again as men im not a much of a fan of either Jones or Mir. If the beating was the other way around id probably change my tune
I saw this too. Although he tapped at the same time or a fraction of a second before his arm broke. I don't think Herb saw it. Either way id prefer if the UFC and MMA as a whole did not allow that anymore and served a serious penalty or infraction for breaking an opponents limb. For me that's not in the spirit of the sport. You cannot do anything about someone breaking a guys limb, unless they held on too long. If that happened, then they should get the Babalu treatment.
It`s not Mirs fault Nog should have tapped earlier Mir isn`t responsible for his opponent and if you want to making it illegal to break someones arm if it`sw needed is ridiculous that`s like forbid someone to ko his opponent some guys just don`t stop if you hold back with the submission so it`s their fault if they get hurt
Anyone who has issue with the way the fight played out needs to stop watching MMA. Figure skating is what you need to watch. As for anyone who think this would have hurt the sport had it been aired on fox you are smoking crack. People watch MMA for it's brutality. They would have won more fan watching last nights fight then watching the fight Cain Vs Dos Santos.
what is wrong with you guys...do you hear nog complaining...he said before the fight he would put mir to sleep or break his arm.... It's in the game, these things are unusual but they do happen...what next, stop them punching hard...big gloves...headguards....come on guys, this is the premier mma franchise, don't dilute our sport, nobody likes watered wine...
nog waited til it was too late..he got like one tap in then snap...seriously...nog of all people knows when it's time to tap i just don't think the brazilians think they can get subbed by north americans
I doubt any true mma fan would wish to see the sport changed in any major way.... The change from pride rules re stomping or kicking a downed opponent were for the best but to negate approximately half a grapplers game would see the sport turned into kickboxing and second rate boxing with chokes.... Would make a mockery of the whole thing....
