There was no clause i wanna see a rematch but ppl are right, why should the champ get dictated too in this way, by a challenger
there needs to be a rematch to prove either way whether khan was robbed or lamont really did beat him fair and square. that would then settle all disputes.
The argument against a rematch is fuelled by a lot of blind hate towards khan (merited or not), lets face it the debatable the way the fight was decided, the closeness of the fight and lastly and most importantly the fact that Lamont was given home advantage as a challenger which is practically unheard of more than warrants a rematch. BTW, I think Khan loses again and his haters should be licking their lips at the prospect of Peterson burying Khan's career for good because if he lost again there will be no way back, as far as elite boxing is concerned.
Exactly. Khan haters want Peterson to cut and run with the belts because they're not confident their man can 'win' again. This can be the only reason they don't want to see the rematch, because if they were confident, surely they'd be screaming for the rematch too so that, like you said, Khan's career gets buried for good.
One thing we can be most certain of is that Khan will get a fair shake in the rematch and by fair shake of course I mean he will be allowed to utilize the full extent of his 'craftiness'. HBO / Golden Boy / Kahn and his team were all caught with their pants down by referee Joe Cooper and the drums will beat long and hard to make sure their investment is protected this time around. When you hear HBO commentary and interviews after the fight it is obvious nobody on that side of the house was interested in seeing the rules of boxing enforced again. We've seen the better of the two fights and quite frankly the only chance that the rematch will be anything other than a return to form for the boxing establishment is if Kahn somehow gets clipped early. If boxing fans are lucky we'll get a good co-feature that will counter the hug / push / flurry fest we will more than likely have to endure in the rematch.
Let's see here, Khan comes into the fight having taken Peterson lightly and, now having LOST, makes excuses and refuses to give Peterson credit. Khan was the A side of that promotion and it's OBVIOUS they didn't take Lamont seriously judging by Khan's performance [or lack thereof] and judging by the fact that they *agreed* to stage the fight in DC. I think Peterson should take the best and highest offer for his next fight. Khan is nothing more than HBO's latest super-duper hype job. Peterson doesn't need him.
What are you, punch drunk? Bradley owns a win over Peterson. Anyone who rates Peterson over Bradley is clearly a Khan homer.
