I was hoping the fight would go on. Rockgloves obviously only had use of one eye, so I completely understand the stoppage. However, despite being a known cheater, I would have liked him to get the opportunity to try to close the show in the last few rounds and see Cotto endure and finish his gameplan. There's a real chance he could have stopped the cyclopean Rockgloves through an actual knockout had it continued.

There was definitely some drama left for fight fans had the fight continued.

Brickhand's toughness should have earned him at least ONE more round, if only for the benefit of doubt.

Just one fricken round is all i had been asking for--whether it's a round of more ol' fashion ass-whoopin, or redemption: either way, fans would've won.

Just like someone can't say for sure that Margo wasn't going to win, you can't say for sure that the doctor "defineatly" saved Cotto's ass. Cotto had wn every round up to the point of the stoppage. He was no where near as worn down as he was by the same point in the first fight. and he had shown that he had an answer for getting pinned against the ropes like he did the first time.

People say he was getting hit, well no **** it's a fight, you're supposed to get hit. margo was getting hit too and there were some shots that visibly shook him. Nobody can no for sure what would have happened if the fight went on but there was more evidience to suggest that Cotto still wins, than not.

like i said, all we know is what happened in their first encounter, and it was beginning to look a lot like it....for your information, i gave margo the 3rd and 9th rounds....in their first encounter, by the 9th i had also only given margo two, maybe 3 rounds......

did the dr not stop the fight when margo was coming on ??? answer is yes, so yes the dr did save cotto....we never know what he saved him from as there were 3 rounds left, but history looked like it was about to repeat itself.....

I wasn't crazy about the stoppage but it was far from the worst I've seen. I think the ref should have ateast given Margarito another round, I don't think Margarito would have stopped Cotto but its not totally out of the question. The semi-controversial stoppage does help leave the door, slightly, open for a possible third fight sometime in the future.

I just don't see how you can tell someone that they can't know for sure that Cotto would have still won and then claim that you know for sure that he was saved. There were earlier points in the fight where margo came on and Cotto was able to fight him off and even rock him. If you gave margo 2 rounds that can be understood (i'm pretty sure all 3 official judges did the same).

As for the first fight, it's irrelevant. That's why we have rematches and rematches to the rematch. This is a different fight, different circumstance and different outcome.

i can say that because didnt the dr stop the fight in controversial fashion ? right after margo had his best round ? when in fact the fight did look a lot like their first fight....only difference is that cotto wasnt bleeding, but the swelling and scrapes are all there on his face, just like the first fight.....

the dr saved him, that's a fact....the "what if" outcome doesn't matter, point is, the dr saved him and the world knows it....

if you were falling off a cliff, and i happened to grab you...wouldn't you count that as saving, or are you gonna tell me...."you didnt save me, what if i would've held on to a branch and saved myself on the way down"

  10. I just watched round 9 and yeah, Margarito was getting phucked up. You have to be crazy or mexican to think Margarito looking anemic with his punches in round 9, were going anywhere but getting his ass properly TKO'd or KO'd by Cotto. The doctor robbed Cotto of further humiliating Margarito.

Enough with trying to change the facts here. Margarito got toyed with in the ring. His power was absent and the fact that Cotto's skin is ****ed from the 1st plaster-fight is clear.

    What's wrong with you people

His previously damaged eye was closed

Whether or not he is able to fight with only 50% vision doesn't matter, the stoppage was correct

LMAO @ Margarito's best round...he got pummeled in the 9th, Cotto had him in the ropes toe to toe getting the best of it...If that was margarito's best round he must have a clear case for the other 8. The man was on the receiving end of a 53% connect ratio, barrera, chavez and Arce who were ringside were nowhere to be found after the 5th...

    No llores tanto Freddy...

This is why i think it was a **** stoppage. You can't honestly say that you could 100% guarantee that Margarito would have came back and ko'd Cotto. I know you have the context of the first fight and what happened then but i didn't see Cotto in the same kind of trouble this time.

Yes Margarito was getting into but could you honestly say you'd bet your wife or Girlfriend on Margarito stopping him again?

    Reasons the stoppage was bull****.

    1. They didn't want the fall out over his eye if he got seriously hurt. My problem with this is. Why the **** was he cleared in the first place if it was such a liability?

    2. There isn't any closure on the matter as some people still believe that Margarito would have won dispite losing nearly every round because of the first fight. Now there will have to be a 3rd to erase all doubt but it won't happen because Margarito is now probably not going to get licensed again.

They should of left the fight continue, He was coming forward, but Cotto was starting to push him back.

I don't think there would have been too much fall out over the eye. Nobody is going to get all worked up over some boxer losing an eye.
