Bradley telling Peterson to forget Khan

Peterson should just say take it or leave it. With no clause in the original contract Khans pretty much out of options and Peterson's in the driving seat. With Bradley coming out and saying what he has it's clear that he has other options, whereas I'm not sure that Khan does at the moment, especially if he wants to grab another World Title.

Morales doesnt want anything to do with Khan, Khan doesn't want anything to do with Maidana, so he either steps up to Welter, accepts Petersons demands or somehow gets Bradley/Morales into the ring with him.

 

Timmy must be kicking himself. He would take Khan to the cleaners and totally end his career at the top level.

 

Hope Bradley takes on Rios. Interesting collision that. If it does get too hairy for Bradley in close (unlikely) he is more rounded so should take a decision in a good fight.

 

Oh FFS - the reasons Bradley didn't want the fight are well known. Anyone denying them is a ****ing fanny.

That was only part of what he said. His promoter issues were a bigger problem.

As it is, he was right... Khan will never get a fight of that magnitude now.

 

Dave, the 'bigger problems' were the supposed contract extension, right?

Can we expect something to emerge on this, like we discussed a while back? It's a bit hard to believe when there's still nothing on it.

 

It's funny someone always brings that up because he actually explains why he didn't want to fight Khan in July in that interview.

You can also extrapolate from that interview that Khan wasn't a risk worth taking. Further, he now wants to unify the division and face Peterson. What is with the sudden change of heart? if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, it is most probably a duck.

 

It's still to go to court, we won't hear more about it until then. I believe I already explained that to you in pretty simple language. But as I said at the time, that wasn't the only reason. The interview above, if you bother listening to it, explains it pretty clearly.

He could fight anyone in the top ten for $1.2. He would make a small amount more with Khan (we know Khan is not a PPV draw in the UK). So he didn't see the point of taking a more difficult fight when he could take an easier one and get two $1m plus pay days.

Shaw didn't want that, he wanted the bigger purse since he knew Timmy would leave right after his next fight. Since Timmy and Cameron Dunkin (who hates Shaw, like everybody on earth except Chad Dawson) were adamant, he introduced an extension clause. Bradley alludes to it in the above interview as well.

"They're going to do everything to try keep me."

I couldn't care less if you don't believe me. You need to just get over that.

He wants to fight Peterson because he sees it as easy money/win, I suspect.

That's business.

 

You can't extrapolate any such thing. It's risk vs reward. If you listen to the whole interview, he talks about maximising his earnings. He could take one Khan fight for maybe $2m (a big maybe considering Khan makes very little from PPV), risk a loss and a potential superfight, or a tune-up for $1.2 and a Khan fight for $2m. At least if he loses the second way, he's made $3.2m!

This is not difficult to understand.

It's not a nice reality, but HBO created that particular issue.
