Next for mundine??

Trout has to April 2012 to defend against his mandatory. 4 months is a long time out . I would expect some sort of talk early in the new year if it's going to happen.

 

I used to support Mundine in the first half of his career but if a Trout fight comes off I will 100% support Trout as Mundine has been taking the **** out of boxing fans for far too long now. He will never redeem himself with the fans.

Been supporting Aussie fighters for over 40 years. First fight i ever paid to see was Lionel Rose V Gattelari. My Aussie idols were Rose and Famechon.
Spent plenty of nights watching Mundine senior who also impressed me with his skills considering his nil amateur experience. Over those 40 odd years seen a lot of fighters sustain damage that ****ed them for the rest of their lives,while they walked away with the arse out of their pants. For every Aussie fighter who walked away with a decent dollar there would be hundreds who did'nt. If i gave away following boxing when i thought every thing was not kosher then i would have done it many years ago.
So in answer to your question.... Yes i try to support all Aussie fighters and i get no joy out of seeing any Aussie fighter getting smashed.

What you people dont seem to understand is...boxing is not just a sport,its a business...like all business its about money.
In the fight game,the aim is to hit and not get hit,Mundine has made millions and millions of dollars from fighting in his backyard 97% of his career,why do most of us hate on him,coz he says "yea man they dont wana fight me,pacman and mayweather running scared,they dont wana test me in the states they know im superior" bla bla.Do u people think he is for real? To make money the man needs to sell himself to the public which he has done to perfection,he needs a reaction good or bad,any attention is good attention,love him or hate him,he has done everything there is to do in the game of boxing and especially the two main things,WIN A WORLD TITLE AND MAKE MONEY.He has fought some really good fighters,especially when he was coming up and i think his last victory was one of his best and yes i agree he should of gone years and years ago to the states as he states,but in the end of the day,why does he need to? he will go down as a world champ,millionare and one of australias great boxers.whether we like it or not.

Jesus ****in Christ you are a clown. Mundine had a pretty decent first half of a career then he has been a fraud. Wake up to yourself.:roll: No one considers him ever being a world champion.

 

Hey Francis, Mundine did beat Echols for the vacant WBA SMW title in 2003 which later became the full version of the title in March 2004 when Ottke retired.

What's a more legitimate strap, Choc's win against a Ring Magazine #3 in Echols which later became a full title or Dib's win for the vacant IBF featherweight title against Jorge Lacierva, with neither of them in the Ring top 10 at the time of the title fight?

 

Regular WBA titles imo just means you're the number 1 contender. If there is a WBA super champion who retires like Ottke did then I would only consider the regular champ as the true champ when he defends at least once which Mundine never did.He never beat the champion to get his WBA belt and he never defended his WBA title successfully when there wasn't a super champion above him. Sorry but I don't consider Mundine as ever being a genuine WBA 168 lb champ. Thats my opinion.

 

I know what you are saying, but under the definition of a world champion, it doesn't require you have defended a title once it has transferred into your name. It's kinda like Lovemore N'Dou when he beat Ben Rabah and then after the fight or a day later he found out he was the new full IBF champ.

In terms of comparing it to Dib's title for instance, I rate Mundine's over Dib's given the fight that took place to earn the title.

Also, this super champion business really is garbage as when does the super champ fight the regular champ as a defense? Sturm's been getting away without fighting Golovkin and Cotto's been a super champ for over 18 months which is the timeframe a super champ has to fight the regular champ, so if he doesn't fight regular champ Trout next he should be stripped.

So in reality if a fight between the two doesn't take place, the regular champ is essentially the real champion, assuming he is taking on the responsibilities of a world champion through his defences and taking on the ranked contenders of the sanctioning body.
