Didn't see it, but would be surprised! I think he was winning on one card, so unless he copped a few big ones I think he would have stayed on his feet. Was it like a Castillo vs Hatton one, or something different? PS: Hatton would have knocked out Castillo anyway, but I think Jose knew what was coming and thought better of carrying on!
He said he thought he was in front in one card but that was not true as Jim Lampley corrected after the interview with Larry Merchant. He was taking mighty right hands and had no defense for it and there were more than 12 minutes on the clock ( same thing as JLC) - I wouldn't be surprised if he did... He knew he was behind and couldn't turn it around in this weight class ( after the Sturm fight) and against this guy... He didn't run like Bernard expected him to though " he's sayin he's gonna stand right in front of me but I say don't believe him" Bernard acknowledged he was wrong and that he did not look for a gift from the LV judges... It was very different from Castillo-Hatton because Bernard hooked out of the left jab and lost a lot of steam in the follow up punch... The shot landed on the side, something like Cotto on Quintana but did not land as solid.
This is one area no one can argue to much about, DLH has taken some big shots over the years and while he has been down a few times he has never looked like being Ko'd. The Hopkins body shot would have stopped anybody.
Yes, but back in the day, before he took over the sport, he was exciting to watch and that was the secret to his success.
I think that liver shot landed a lot more convincingly than the one Hatton landed on Castillo. Also, DLH's writhing on the floor was a lot more convincing than Castillo's fall.
I have seen all of Oscar's fights... and outside of flash knockdowns due to aggressiveness early in his career, and a few body shots that seemed to bother him.... the only time that have seen Oscar actually buzzed pretty good off of a head shot was against Campanella.
Oscar is one of those complete fighters like Calzaghe, Mosley, Hopkins, etc. Good boxing skills, good chin, power, defense, etc, although he does have his flaws.
Oscar is great. He has a very good chin. Not granite, but very good. He has been affected by body shots, though.
Oscar's only really been hurt to the body. Mosley hurt him to the body in the last few rounds of their second fight. And Hopkins drilled him. His chin is very solid, like u read already he was rocked by mosley and Quartey.
:rofl what a question. the ONLY person who knows that in the end is oscar and maybe his wife. So 100000 people on this forum can say they think yes but that is what they THINK. Lame *ss question. No personal offense:good
hattons body shot was way cleaner, and dlh's pounding and screaming on the canvas is more unusual of a reaction than most body shot kos.
His pounding was likely do to him being upset he was KO for the first time. His squirming is not unsual by any means. I guess you haven't seen MANY KO by way of liver shots.
tell me about the other kos when a guy gets stopped to the body and squirms on the canvas, screams, and pounds the canvas.
