Succesfull people always credit god rather than their own ability for some reason, I always found that funny, like god wanted you to do this, its his plan, its an arrogant view but also excludes free will. Yet when a kid dies its a tragedy and the devils work.
Ward's god is a ruthless mofo though, very insecure and a tiron who butchered plenty of people in the old testament for his own amusement like a spoiled child.
There most likely isnt a god though and it holds as much truth as the flying spaghetti monster.
I always see ward as very confident in his own ability though rather than arrogant, if believing in a god and practicing religion helps him become a decent person and take care of his family then I have no problem with it at all, it can be good guidelines for life if you dont take it to serious and dont think to much about stuff.

 

It always bugs me when athletes think God gives a **** about them winning a fight or running faster.

"I'll just ignore these tens of thousands of starving kids to give me favourite fighter 10% extra stamina for the last half of the fight".

Hey, it works for him, Manny and Tebow. Even Floyd gives his credit to God and says that he's "God gifted" If I had a choice whether to choose Froch's or these guys' way, I will be a God worshipin sports enigma.

 

Froch is just hating because he has a jewish background, thats the real reason he has had hatred towards khan. Religion if followed correctly is meant to teach you to be disciplined, charitable, humble, kind to your neighbour etc, but because we're human we aren't perfect, we are prone to wrong doing, hence forgiveness and prayer.

This topics been done before here. But just to sum up what has been said and wards reasoning of SOG. Then it refers to son of god as according to his christian beliefs, he is A son of god from amongst the many children of God.

I think froch thinks it's arrogant because for him SOG refers to what he thinks is THE son of god (ie Jesus christ) in Christian beleif in his country. Another example is how British people don't ever name there children Jesus, but latins have no problem being named Jesus.

Now, I don't want to have a theological debate about the rights and wrongs about beleiving in God, but surely it's upto them. When they say they thanked their god, like Mayweather for example, he's not negating the fact his trainers, his team, even his fans helped him win. But first and foremost he thanks god because he beleives without god none of that would be possible. His statemetns about hardwork and dedication show he knows he has to work hard and be dedicated for him to be successful. He's not just sitting in his gym or church saying praise god and then winning his fights and thanking God. It's a way to motivate himself and push him through.

Also, whether the beleif is right or wrong no one can deny it does affect the people who do it. It can be the differance between winning and losing, it gives fighters that little extra. Some people will use their family for motivation (like froch thinks about his son rocco), others will think about maybe their background and struggle (Hopkins and Peterson), other might think about their national pride and sense of duty (manny pacquiao or Japanese kamikaze suicide pilots) and other will think about their god (ward, Judah, Alexander, Bradley, hamed.)

Throughout history the use of God has motivated people to go through incredible struggles and hardship which it could be argued that would not be endured had not the reasoning of God be used. BOXERS are just using that same reasoning and as a motivating factor which they can call on to give them an extra something.
