I can see Dana wanting this fight... Anderson is old and gettin older, he won't want a potential cash cow fighter cashing out without bringing the franchise as much mullah as possible....look for this fight end of next year in Brazil, gives the spider all the advantages....except the physical ones!

Jones needs to clean out his division first. That means Hendo, Rashad and Lil Nog if he keeps winning.

I agree..there are numerous quality fights for Jones...and I really do think he will clean up the light heavyweights.... And lookin at it, if he adds little nog and hendo to his already quality rich resume he will have a claim at being the greatest...potentially before he reaches 25 years old....

    No it doesnt

It basically meant Shotgun and Machida

They are the two Elites. Awesome well rounded fighters

Jones has shown he's in a different league from these awesome fighters

Guess who else has shown himself to operate on a different plane from everone else?

I think Scurla is the best poster on this forum, but in this instance I have to agree with you. Silva is a better striker than Jones for sure. But Jones was savvy enough to realize he had to get Machida on the ground to get that fight under his control, and he'll swiftly realize the same with Silva, if he doesn't know it to begin with.

As big of a Silva fan as I am, I know he can't do anything to stop Bones's takedowns and that's why I know this fight would be a total washout. Jones is taller, longer, heavier, faster, more explosive, more athletic, stronger, more powerful and just all-round better than Chael Sonnen is - plus he's better at setting up takedowns by using strikes. Plus he's infinitely better at GnP than Sonnen.

Thus, I will never understand why people think this would be a good fight. Stylistically, it can't be, unless Jones bizarrely tries to beat Silva at his own game, which he won't because he knows he wouldn't be able to.

GSP has looked human more than once during his title run. I know it was a long time ago, but that whole Serra thing did happen. A few sloppy submission attempts against Dan Hardy and a bit of a freak out with Shields...
Dominick Cruz has looked crazy good, but that fight with Faber was a little too close for comfort, nothing like what Jones and Anderson have put together over their respective runs.

So in summary. Jones cannot live with Silvas striking and Silva cannot live with Jones wrestling. If a wrestler doesn't want to strike he can take it to the ground. If a striker doesn't want to wrestle he has to stop it from going to the ground. Jones is a bigger and better wrestler than guys that have had no trouble taking Silva down in the past and Jones manhandles genuine LHW for fun. Anyone that picks Silva is not looking at the simple facts. Personally I doen't even buy that Jones 'cannot live' with Silvas striking. He has an 84" reach and is improving on his feet in every fight. He may not have the grace of Silva but he has proved to be no less effective in his beatdown of Rua, evasivness against Rampage and ability to hang with Machida.

Silva could light Jones up though. His stand up is much better than Jones and the fancy stuff won't work on Silva who has a very good sense of distance and timing. If Jones can't take him down then its not his day. Jones doesn't take guys down like Sonnen does. Sonnen is a bull.

You think that Sonnen has better offensive wrestling than Jones? Jones has tooled every wrestler his faced at 205. Sonnen was forced to move down from LHW because he couldn't cut it there. Jones would easily, and I'm mean easily, take down Silva whenever he wanted to.

This is silly. Jones threw Bader, Jackson and Hamill around like they were empty shellsuits. Sonnen is an amazing wrestler and strong as a bull, but Jones is another dimension. He'd fold Sonnen up into a ball and throw him out the cage, then ask the referee when his real opponent was going to turn up.
