I dont either man the only other sm he should fight is bute, then if i was his manager i would start to look at building his brand and legacy with the boxing fans, bigger fights and leave the confort zone of oakland and he if he's as good as he really is or not
definitely. if he beats froch and bute I think he'll be a sufficient enough star, but then who does he fight? stieglitz? no point in my book unless he just wants the wbo title, maybe dirrell if he shows his world class form. if not, 175 has some notable fighters.
Bute's best opponent is a 60 year old weight drained Glen Johnson and Ward is the one that needs to chase?
I dont think there will be any chasing on either side. bute's stated he wants the winner of the super six and ward's stated he wants to fight bute post tourny. the only issue I see arising is where the fight will be staged. ward, his manager or whoever obviously prefers he fight in oakland or somewhere in the U.S, while Bute loves fighting in Montreal and has an argument for staging the fight there.
Here is the latest Interbox interview, translated for you in English. You may find it here also : This content is protected The presentation of Bute's next fight in the United States has reached another step last weekend. Interbox's President, Jean Bedard and coach Stephan Larouche, took the opportunity during the Cotto-Margarito World Championship fight last weekend to meet various boxing people in New York. « We went to see how are the installations in Madison Square Garden in order to see how to organize a fight there, explained Bedard to RDS on Monday. « We think that we will be obliged to greatly involve ourselves in the promotion of such an event. We aren't expecting to receive any offers. » The promoter is looking into the Wufu Theater which has a capacity of 5000 to 6000 people. « It's a spot that would be much more viable financially for us, follows Bedard. « Many big fights have been presented there. We will have many more details if we go forward with this. » Even if making a fight in New York would be much less profitable than Montreal or Quebec city, the Interbox President is convinced that it is something they ultimately don't have a choice but to do. « It's a step backwards financially, concedes Bedard. But it can open up many doors for Lucian's career. We've already conquered the Canadian & Romanian markets. » « And the boxers that we want to meet, don't necessarily want to come in Quebec. A neutral territory like New York may be the solution. » Ideally, the promoter doesn't want to be the only one plunging in such an adventure. A collaboration with Top Rank is more than probable. « They are the ones that invited us last weekend », says Bédard. « A gala featuring one of their boxers (in another fight) and Lucian could be successful. » « We also know that our fans would only have 7 hours of travelling to do in order to see us. »
