Has there ever been such a good fighter with such a terrible record on paper. The guy was a great British/Euro level fighter sith a huge reach and a reasonably good chin (only KO'd by Vitali, Tyson & Williams in his prime but thats no real sham) I know his weight went out of control and he fought on quite late but what caused him to be such an enigmatic fighter?
Good at the Brit/Euro that level but never really able to move above, and did kinda wreck his record over the last 3 years or so of his career. Seemed to settle into just turning up for the paycheque, getting through the rounds with his guard up and going home. Sprott has a similar 'have gloves will travel' attitude and misleading record, but Sprott keeps himself in good shape and keeps trying.
The main problem with Julius was he never really had a big following or interested the average boxing fan. That means you need to take the money when and where you can get it in order to pay the bills. The same goes for Sprott
You can't really say. Same as Danny Williams, Audley Harrison and many others. They claim to train and love the sport but they don't really. They like getting paid, end of. The standard of boxing both in terms of hardwork and technically is horrible in the professional ranks. The best in the world always tend to have the talent, hardwork and skills. Francis, like many others didn't have the last two. When you think of names like Marquez, Hopkins, Pac, Mayweather, Donaire etc they all have those 3 elements despite different styles.
