Is Lemieiux done?

I read somewhere that he's real lazy and his own coach/trainer dismissed him because he didn't display a world class work ethic.

 

If some of you can't see that he has talent, there's a problem... His career depends on his commitment and discipline. That's his downfall and always has been.

Once when asked what his greatest dream would be, he didn't say I would love to become a great amd recognized boxer. He said he wanted to have enough money so that he could spend his days sipping drinks on an exotic beach...

Nothing wrong with that at all, but when you're a fighter and a reporter interviews you about your dreams, one would expect you to answer something related to your supposedly passion in life which happens to also be your job and sport you compete in.

 

:deal Exactly. Boxing is as mentally tough as it is physically. You have more chances of winning if all the things even little things are learned and done properly. I heard he was training with La Maravilla so that did alot of good or alot of bad. David might be one of those doesnt take losing very well and is affecting mentally. Or the fact was.he really wasnt as good.as.many thought, but that doesn't mean he can't improve. He won't be the first or the last fighter that might have to change or alter his style in order to become a force in his division.

 

I think he got moved along too fast ... going the distance means alot on the championship level and not everyone is capable of doing that. When you move up in class it's very important to be able to bank rounds, fight when you're tire, preserve energy, and think sharpely while fatigued.

 

He is still young and fought really good opposition for his age. Ayala, Rubio and Alcine are no bums. They are experienced fighters who fought in championship bout. Lemieux doesn't have that bad of a defence. In the Rubio fight, he dominated the first 5 rounds and worked himself out. He could have done half of the effort and still win. In the Alcine, I found he was not aggressive enough countering. He needed to take risk. Just throw your hand threw your opponent jab. Don't just wait for the right hand that comes right after.

Future will tell. I was 95% sure he would become world champion. I put it 50/50 now.

 

He has to improve mentally. That would be a big step.

He's still young and has plenty to development yet. Unless he gets stopped again or knocked out then he can make a comeback.

 

With his style of boxing and short arms he needs to attack to win , he must get inside, he can't box on the outside . Such boxers need at least a good chin and Lemieux doesn't have that. His lack of commitment to training is telling . So at present he is not quite done but definitely his career is on a downward turn .

 

I don't want to seem like I'm trying too hard defend him, but there's a lot of people still talking about his lack of commitment in training which is unfair on the lad. These people obviously didn't see last week's fight. He was absolutely in the best shape of his career, no doubt about that. He's had a nutritionist since he began his camp, he's cut out junkfood etc. He put in the effort in the gym this time, but he just didn't have the technical know-how in the ring to be effective against Alcine. If he keeps training like he did this time and finds a good trainer who can teach some of the more technical aspects of the game, he'll improve.

Kid can box. Maybe overrated in the power department (even by himself) but too young and talented to be done....yet.

Lemieiux thought he had the Ko power that would take him to the top but once he stop
fighting bums and moved up to B- fighters in his last 2 fights his so called power was not their and he did not know what to do at all just look at his face when he could not hurt Alcine he had the look of a lost puppy and did not have a clue what to do at all.

I say by the end of 2012 we don't hear of him anymore.

This is true. Lemieux fought 8 times in '09 alone. 25 fights in 3 and half years.

That would be fine if his opponents were progressively better as he went on, but he was fighting tomato cans until very recently.

Take away the Alcine and Rubio fights, and Lemiuex has boxed 55 rounds only. He is absolutely inexperienced in terms of rounds in the ring. That inexperience showed in his two losses, hugely. In hindsight, he's been mismanaged. To jump in quality to Rubio like that when your fighter still has a lot to learn is hanging him out to dry in a sense.

He should have learned a lot from both losses however. We'll see how he does next time out.
