Wherever you stand on the bout and its outcome, surely no one here hates themselves enough to want to see Dawson and Hopkins try and win another safety-first display. This from ESPN: Amazing how when Dawson was the beneficiary of that ******ed stoppage ruling, he screwed his face up and refused to rematch Hopkins, as if he'd ACTUALLY stopped him. But now, well now it's different... I can't blame Hopkins for telling him to get bent, but mostly I'm just glad I won't have to suffer a repeat of what was shaping up to be a painfully dull "spectacle". However, Hopkins i willing to go along with it!
I'd like to see the fight because it's probably the top 2 light heavyweights. Dawson was an idiot the way he acted that night though.
:think On Twitter the other day B-Hop said something along the lines of wanting to get the fight on again, and that they were just waiting for Dawson. I'm not that fussed, but if the unlikely event happens and they establish themselves as the outright #1 and #2, then it should probably get made. People going on as if Chad was ''schooling'' Hopkins based on a round and a half was ridiculous though, I thought B-Hop took the first IIRC.
I thought Hopkins landed his shots and used his defence better, but Dawson was being unusually aggressive - I scored it to Hopkins at the time, but felt it could be seen as a draw. It was following the usual pattern of any Hopkins fight of the last 7-8 years. He sacrifices the first few rounds to figure out his opponent's rhythm, looks for quick counters that he can use to discourage their aggression, takes away their best weapons, then goes to work. It happened with Pascal both times and he took both fights over by the end. There was no evidence that either man was in control. But based on history, you always have to consider Hopkins' approach to fights.
