I think his style will allow him to make a comeback if he really wants it...its not like he was a Jones type fighter, reliant on reflexes and speed...Scott was a walk forward war of attrition type guy, huge at the weight and superbly conditioned...I see no reason he can't at least attain solid European or fringe world level again...scotty is one of my favourite fighters and all I hope is he makes enough cash and vanquishes enough of his demons to find a bit of happiness. Bottom line, and as harsh as this sounds, its all down to whether he decides to find shelter and comfort in a boxing gym or inside a bottle....
Any 2 time world champion is "excellent", and Scott was a tremendous boxer, just became reliant on his strength as it worked, but go watch him early fighting THP and Boom Boom, and his best night v Chacon. He was REALLY struggling with the weight and all around him for Polo.
He was a fit fighter but years of abusing the bottle ages the body fast. If he has the determination to work hard and stay dry then good luck to him, but I think he will never get near to the condition he was in, not due to effort on his part but due to his body having been damaged by alcohol. I really feel sorry for his dad who is a gem of a guy. To go from the pride he must have felt as he watched his son become a world champion to the desperation of watching Scotts world fall apart due to his love of the bottle.
Its good the way everyone is keen on Scott come back and like most I hope he can regain some pride back to himself and his family . I think he will gain some sort of title and I also think there will be a few waiting the outcome of his first couple of fights and if he anything near what he was there will not be many British boxer stepping up so easy . now I dont think he should be fighting guys like burns Crolla unless he had two or three good fights and wins then look to gain the lonsdale belt his them look to earn as much money he can and as quick as he can
Dont forget peeps, a Scotty comeback ignites scottish boxing, Ricky Burns the good guy trained by Billy Nelson the student... Then we have Scott Harrison the bad guy, trained by the master peter Harrison, this works on so mant levels its almost spooky! Its a well known fact that Scotty is jealous of Ricky Burns success, & Peter Harrison is jealous of Billy Nelsons success with Ricky Burns, a Scotty Harrison comeback is just the tonic that scottish boxing needs as scottish boxing thrives on local rivalries... & who can forget that Peter Harrison wouldnt even let Ricky Burns spar with Scotty as Peter thought Ricky wasnt worthy... & now Ricky burns is scottish boxings golden boy while Scotty & his da look on enviously... Vince McMahon couldnt come up with a better plotline than this!:hey
