Poll above and leave your thoughts below.

Question for the thread is simple:

Andre Ward, before tonight, is 24-0 (13).

Lucian Bute is currently 30-0 (24).

Notable Ward wins: Miranda, Kessler, Green, Bika, Abraham

Notable Bute wins: Bika, Joppy, Andrade (x2), Miranda, Johnson

I think he would yes be widely considered the man to beat at 168.

Yes it would mean that Ward is the best SMW in the world. And if Froch win's then it's not even to debate who the best is, i mean his resume is way more superior than both guys. Pascal,Taylor,Dirrell,Abraham,Johnson and maybe Ward. So should Ward win he's a bit ahead than Bute, but if Froch wins then he is far ahead

Whoever wins tonight ranks 1st in my book.

That said, Bute is in line for a fight vs the winner at some point in 2012 -not necessarily right away- to help the cause of an undisputed SMW champ with Kessler representing the same if and when he becomes WBO title holder. Could start 2013 with a mega 4-belt fight...!!

    Big top 4 @ 168.

Andre Ward will be better than Bute even if he loses. It's a silly question really.

Ward already is the best SMW in the world. Beating Froch tonight will just be a confirmation of it.

Bute doesn't even come into the equation just yet.

Depends on who you're a fan of that's obvious, similar to Floyd/Manny...

    I voted "I'm not sure."

We may not know until the two face off, if that ever happens.

Bute vs Ward is a 50-50 type of fight. If you think otherwise, you're merely kidding or comforting yourself (take your pick).

In terms of sheer talent, Bute is a class of above Froch and Kessler. Moreover, he hits with too much authority for Dirrell.

Ward, however, is another matter. That is a 50-50 affair, as I have previously mentioned.

Ward say that Bute haven't proven anything to face him and he would rather face Kessler or Froch again. :D

No need for the hypothetical in the OP, the winner of tonight's fight is simply number 1.
