Much have been said about proper scoring of a round, but at the end of the day only one thing matters and Ward won by a landslide due to that: who does the better job at LANDING, in other words, who's the cleaner, more effective puncher. Andre Ward was better in a total of 10 rounds on my card doing a little more more (R3, R10, R12) or a lot more (others, particularly R4 & R6) where Froch was only able to be effective and better in the 9th and 11th, both relatively close rounds. Ward only started using some illegal tactics late in the fight, and to his credit, Froch's big shot after the bell was the turning point so full credit goes for Andre as he put on a dominating performance vs. a determined and very well conditioned Cobra. Was a little surprised to see Dre tiring after the 8th, but understandable as he outfoxed, outboxed and outpunched his opponent to that point, still, that created some opportunities for Froch to land flush, and sometimes he did. Good fight altogether, and it sets up Ward vs. Bute which is easy for neither fighter. The Romanian is quicker and slicker than anyone Dre's ever faced, on the other hand this old school, versatile and highly effective style on the inside is new for Bute himself, his fight to lose on the outside, but Ward's inside. Anyway, could've been ugly, dirty, and boring, so credit goes for these two for putting on a nice clash and for Showtime for putting on Super Six, alongside fight Fight Camp it was a great experience, a little change of rules (like 9 round fights until final, shorter the camps more often they can fight, same officiating pool etc,) and it can be a great series.
He won decisively but there was a lot of holding and hitting was a good fight though Froch gave it his all and was totally honest after the fight, Ward was respectful and good though kinda dodged the Bute fight question. Some ******* idiot from hbo compared Ward to Whitaker at some point though that was the only part that had me slapping my head good fight and night overall though.
gave Froch the 5th, 11th & 12th and feel that either Ward was tired at the end and or he just decided to try and see the fight out (doubful). Froch deserves credit for winning the last 2 rounds, he did not give up. However it seems clear to me that he does not have the style to beat Ward but he did seem to be the fresher guy in the last 2 rounds.
Ward was much more aggressive than usual. I really wanna see him fight Bute, would be interesting if Bute can land them body shots on Ward to see how he reacts.
That bout is very interesting now, especially with the fact that Ward seemed to be slowing down in the final rounds. If Bute can connect with those bodyshots enough...well, yeah, interesting bout.
I was impressed by Ward. He was better in every aspect. Handspeed, footwork, head and body movement, effective aggression, ring generalship, etc. Hands down.
That was expected... but he fought much cleaner than I thought he would, well at least until Froch hit him after the belt. Very high effectiveness for most of the fight.
