Khan still makes the same mistakes he always made.

Even before Roach, charging in straight lines, pumping out arm punches, open for counters, even from a journeyman like Carey.

He walks into shots, yes he's improved since the early days, but his mistakes are still the same, only he's stronger.

    Not mistakes mate, habbits

He'll most likely always have these flaws, there are trainers who could fix these but very few. Old school trainers are a dead breed in Boxing, Roach is more of a new era coach.

    Floyd Sr
    Steward
Nazim Richardson (He learned from the great Bouie Fischer)
    Nacho
Atlas (Needs to teach others to train fighters, before all of Cus' secrets die with him, Mike and Kevin Rooney.)

Some habbits are beyond change though mate, He always goes back to what he knows when the going gets tough.

Take him for what he is. He ain't changing at this point.

Tbf, he has improved underrated Roach quite a bit, especially offensively. To the point where he's become hard to outbox. He wasn't never ganna be a defensive genius. I think Freddie's done a pretty good job. Khan was even worse back then.

you can be an offensive fighter and still have decent defence. Khans still young yet most boxers at his age are still on the way up and aren't fighting for multiple titles in their second weight class.

he has serious flaws but he's got time. Look at Barrera when he was beat twice by Jones don't think people expected him to come back stronger with a better boxing brain.

Still one of my favourite moments in boxing when he boxed the ears of Naseem.

Great call out about Barerra. It takes an open minded fighter to adapt to that kind of change. I don't think Khan is there yet on the maturity level. If he is still crying about the loss, he isn't going to change to fix it.

yeah it takes a level of humility to accept your shortcomings. i doubt Khan will adapt either but only time will tell.

Don't remember Barrera appealing any of his close fights Morales, Marquez etc.

Did Khan used to RUN like he does now when the heat is on?

Or is this a newer habit (and IMO one of the reasons he "seems" to have an improved chin these days)?

not really but that could obviously be down to the level of competition he faced.

Comparing Khan to Barrera is a ****in joke. Barrera had more SKILLS than Khan could ever dream of, and a MUCH hgher IQ. Khan has the boxing IQ of fence post. He's never gonna improve his game. His BIGGEST flaw is his inability to fight on the inside, and thats not gonna change. Skills like that dont develop over night. They take YEARS to establish, and need to be taught at a YOUNG age (and by that I mean teen years). Khan is too far along to change now. He's 25, not 18.

Khan has flashy handspeed, thats it. He's not getting any better. This IS his prime. In a few years once his speed declines, he'll basically be a bum.

Get over it Khan groupies. He's just not that good.
