Hometown advantage, Personal judges and a ref who gives Bute 20 counts. You have to take your hat off to Froch, he doesn't take the easy route.

A two fight deal is a bit odd isn't it? What if, for example Bute wins every round on every scorecard, or sparks Froch out? And vice versa. Who's gonna want/pay to see a rematch then?

What a two fight deal says to me is that Bute isn't convinced that he can beat Froch

Bute is a slithery customer, the smile of the same says it all.

Guardian's Kevin Mitchell is covering this as well. Doesn't take the easy way does Froch.

Sounds like a standard rematch clause but where Froch would get home advantage. Bute thrashes Froch senseless.

Old school. Really happy to see Froch fighting the best. Win or lose, that has to be respected.

So Frochy will get knocked out twice?

Won't happen, if the first fight isn't competitive there will be no demand for a rematch.

Or rather he sees two easy pay days.

You wouldn't take the risk of giving away home advantage in the rematch....all that you would do is give the man a rematch on the same terms and same venue after the first fight. Bute isn't anywhere near as good as he thinks he is.

On paper, a 50-50 split with each taking what is ultimately generated by them in their home countries sounds great.

I figure Bute and his people don't believe Ward will sign to a fight too soon and he has to continue to fight former champs or losers to state his case as being above Ward and Kessler. I don't think whatever he does unless he faces a champ in his prime could put him as the number 1.

I also think by having the first fight in Montreal, they are betting on Bute dominating him and them maybe shying away from a rematch. Alternatively, he may think he has 2 big wins lined up for 2012.

Another big fight at 168 and that is the main thing.

Anyone think we'll see something like this:

    April 2012
    Kessler - Stieglitz
    Ward - A. Dirrell (mandatory)
    Froch - Bute I

    Summer 2012
    Kessler - Ward
    Froch - Bute II

    Winter 2012
    Winners Ward/Kessler - Froch/Bute

Could definitely see some TV double headers there.
