No it is delusion. Quote I read from him last night is that not a fighter in the world can get past his jab. That is pure delusion because his jab isn't that good, thrown wrong and makes him incredibly open. The world has told him for years his defence is horrible, he continously gets punched in the face and in wars yet he continues to try and adopt a shoulder roll (which technically he is horrible at). He continues with these things out of delusion not self belief.

He finds comfort in things so as to fuel his delusion. Rather than think Ward dominated him he has already stated he find comfort in the 115-113 cards. Those are 2 of the most corrupt cards this year. On par with Lara-Williams, Macklin-Sturm, Helenius-Chisora etc Yesterday, in the article I read he admits that he found comfort in the close Kessler cards and how people told him it was disputed.

The only thing I can really say Froch has improved on is his engine. Again in the article I read he says he has kept a log of his stats for years and has continued to beat his running times, dips, push ups etc Good on him for that hard work but on a purely technical basis, he remains the same fighter who hasn't evolved.

He is delusion, not in a 'Charles Bronson I need a psyche evaluation' way but still delusional.

Check my post history and SkillspayBills will tell you that my comments are in his technical work. I've always credited Carls hard work, take on all comers, never say die attitude.

Delusion may explain why Carl says the riduclous things he says but I'm sorry, Delusion doesn't explain why he's at the top of the division winning fights.

    This is what you said.

Frankly this is a ridiculous statement. Carl may be deluded into thinking his skills are greater than they are, but no way does it take you to the top. He got to the top because of his hardwork, self belief, Heart and determination.

First few rounds of the Johnson fight had me really worried. Look how many right hands Johnson hit him with. Look how many left hooks Ward caught him with. Even low level fighters were punching him square in the face. The defence didn't change a bit. EVEN Floyd, Ali and Jones who are the upper echelon of talent often had to revert to the good old full guard. Me and my mate were laughing at 3 in the morning at the fact that even when Froch is getting tagged he can't bring out the fundamentals - hands up, chin down, lets start bombing away.

The sad truth is that Froch comes mentally and physically ready for a hard 12 and not many can do that. Dirrell mentally folded, Taylor physically folded, Pascals talent made it close but he couldn't last the stretch, even against an old tough nut like Johnson he could up the pace and get the W.

It's the real elite (Kessler and Ward) who mentally and physically lasted the 12 and got the W.

In pro boxing just being mentally and physically tough (with some talent) can get you to a very high level. Froch isn't the first guy. Glen Johnson isn't amazing technically, very basic yet the hardest thing about him is that for 12 rounds he will fight your socks off mentally and physically. Someone like Allan Green could beat him 3-0 in the amateurs but in the pros he folded.

That is if you take it out of context but I've touched on his hard work, never say die attitude multiple times. I've even said his style is unorthodox and if you aren't an elite fighter they aren't sure how to figure him out. I'm talking technically. He trains so hard and fights so hard because he believes those skills are at elite level. Believes his jab is the best at 168. Believes his defence will help him against the likes of Johnson, Kessler etc This is delusion.

Techically Carl does everything he can do get himself ko'd but his chin is solid. Crosses his legs against Taylor, walks in wild with his chin up against Kessler and Dirrell but still only got buzzed. Other fighters with similar skill sets get themself ko'd in the same scenario.

This still doesn't explain how delusion made him 2 time world champ

To him it's self belief but to many of us it's delusion.

do you think he has many years left?...i'm only thinking a couple at most...but then we see older boxers doing well in recent years so i am open to debate on that view....but at 34 how many new tricks can you really teach an old dog?...he might learn stuff in the gym, but in a fight thats going hard will he revert to what is, i presume, instinctive for him

Lirva, stop talking bollocks. The 115-113 cards were a disgrace, trying to make some kind of positive out of them is only papering over the chasm that separates them. Carl won 2 rounds tops.

  11. Deluded is one of the first words I think of when someone mentions Carl Froch.

It's what makes him the fighter that he is, if he had the self-esteem of (say) Calzaghe he'd have had multiple KO losses and probably be retired by now.

It was only Enzo and Allegedly that bigged Calzaghe up.

Hagler was another deluded character, making himself believe that nobody thought he was any good and that the only way to prove himself was by cracking a few heads together.

Sometimes delusion isn't delusion in the Audley sense, or the England fan sense..... it's just a character trait that drives people. Most of us suffer from it in one way or another at some time.

The mad thing is he actually had a good chance of winning when you look at the scorcards - the American and Canadian judge had it only TWO rounds in Wards favour! and had Froch pressured him like everyone said he should in them early rounds - that in istself could have got him the nod?

Still some great fights for Froch in the future though. The Kessler fight should happen (hopefully in England too) there is Bute out there... and there is also Pascal at light heavyweight and even Cleverly is a possibilty.

Froch will struggle to come back from this. He got dominated, thats going to be tough for him to take. I can see him being massively deflated, and he's 34 years old.

I can honestly see the likes of Cleverly beating him, nevermind Bute or Kessler.

Surely that's because Cleverly is a world beater more than anything else? :think

 Certainly not judging by the Bellew fight, but he's got the work-rate and ability to fight up close that would trouble Froch.

I just think Froch is going to struggle, knowing for a fact he's not the best. He's also got to be on the down slope, he looked slower and clumsier than ever against Ward, albeit a lot of that was down to Ward's abilities too.
