Montreal media were saying something 2 months ago about a Bute card @ PEPS stadium in Quebec City, which hosts around 25K people. August 2012. Don't know if that would get squashed by a potential Bute-Froch 2-fight deal. :?
It looks a little weak for Ward to back out of the fight with Bute, given he had all his qualifier fights in his hometown, which included Green & Bika, then an Arthur Abraham who was on a two fight slide. Meantime you have Froch who had the toughest road through the tournament ready to sign up a two fight deal to face Bute. Whatever, hopefully it'll be a mega-fight in the winter.
I couldn't agree more...he'd be another Calzaghe...leavings his legacy up for debate by all of his fans instead of solidifying it in the ring against top opposition who are without question in their prime. That's the only issue I have with JC..we waited to late to leave Wales to take on big names, those wins vs. Jones and Hopkins would look MUCH better had they occurred when both men we're at the top of their game (yeah I know Hopkins is still a tough out for young inexperienced fighters).
I'll believe Goossen once it happens at least one time...For now, Ward isn't as big a ticket in his hometown if you compare him to Bute.
No he should fight Ronald Hearns and Anthony Bonsante next. Why bother fighting real fights if his fans are willing to pay for ****. He's a legend in the making just like Ottke and Calslappy.
How come? Bute has a far deeper skillset than Froch and is a slick southpaw with a highly unusual KO punch. What makes you so certain that Ward will be able to easily decipher him? Has Ward ever even fought a good southpaw?
It's not all about the money. Once you have done certain things it becomes about recognition.Bute needs Ward because Ward has proved himself by beating the best.Bute hasnt.Even if Bute beats Froch now, everyone will just say 'by then Froch was finished'.You see how Bute beat Johnson and no one cared because Johnson has so many losseS.The tag that Bute has been fighting B Class fighters will follow him until he fights Ward.
