ive put this on the uk esb forum but have put it in here to see what the rest of worlds boxing fans think of my thread...... already there is talk of froch fighting a 2 match series vs bute and even a rematch with kessler. ward has said he is taking a break and has no intention of fighting in europe , he has also mentioned that he has no deire at the moment to fight bute. froch though has gained so much respect by doing what many fighters dont do....fight the best AND away from home , this along with his fighting style makes him more in demand that the stay at home ward. ward needs a break because of his hand , it did look bad on the pics after the fight. What i can see happening is ward going back to Oakland to defend his title....but who against??? the wbc have said that ward must fight dirrell , is that a bigger and better fight than froch vs bute???...i dont think so. the loss doesnt seem to have hurt froch as much as people have thought , the top guys still want to fight him because they know he will make himself available to fight the best. if that double header come off vs bute then froch will make alot of money , probably more money than ward will make in his next 2 fight. froch vs bute twice , a rematch with kessler and a rematch with pascal at 175.....great way to finish a career
I think he is as 1. He's in better fights to watch 2. He's great a building up a fight and there would be some hilarious moments with Bute 3. Ward is boring IMO (personality wise) and fighting, but **** he's good
The only development that surprises me is that Froch and Bute will fight 2x. I figured this was the tact that Ward would take. It was a tough run, and I don't begrudge a guy an occasional softer fight. Froch is in a different position. He is older, and needs to get the money fights while he still can. He'd be foolish not to jump at the opportunity for not 1, but 2 big fights. Good for him, he has earned that. Had he decided to take a softer couple of fights, he would have earned that too. Also, to me there is some poetic justice in Bute taking on Froch for the right to face Ward. I didn't find it appetizing that Bute, (for whatever reason, not looking to assign blame here) should be able to have the lighter schedule and instantly qualify for a fight with the division's top dog, who had earned it through a tough tournament schedule. I liked the idea that Bute or Kessler would need to ante up in order to get a crack at the S6 winner. Bute seems to be doing that. And should Froch win, a case can be made for a rematch. I don't know where Kessler fits in as his April fight with Stieglitz, which he should win, is a little too far off. Hopefully we get full unification by the end of 2012. Not sure if all the moving parts will cooperate though.
He is. And I will tell you why. He brings in the same cash as ward! And is easy to beat! (dirrell, KESSLER and ward all done it) 34year old / slowmo froch looked like charlie z with cheeen over the weekend. Slow ponderous and easy to hit, and brings in the cash! He's priceless and everyone wants a piece before that cheeen cracks.
Ermm, I wouldn't say so I'm sure having the option Kessler, Dirrell, Bute etc would fight Ward instead.
Maybe. But it's got nothing to do with him being a more exciting fighter or anything. It’s because he’s a well-known SMW that’s very beatable, and having come off a loss like that, he’ll be easier to negotiate a fight with due to him not having any leverage. The same can’t be said for Ward. He’s being tipped by many experts to be the next big thing, and having just won the Super Six, he’ll be having a lot of things his own way for future fights (especially after he clears the division once and for all).
