Hopkins vs Dawson II on the Mayweather undercard on May 5?

Even if it was proposed to Hopkins - he wouldn't take it. He's not getting back in the ring with Dawson. He didn't want to do it in the first place and was forced. Even with the WBC ordering a rematch - it's not goingto happen.

Hopkins is already using the excuse that Chad disrespected him after the first fight by saying that he was faking and he wouldn't give Hopkins a rematch (when he thought he won the fight). Hopkins says - since he said he didn't want to give me a rematch - there's no need to look for one now. He's moving on to other things.

If it was to be put on the undercard - that would be GREAT - but I wouldn't hold my breath on this one.

WOuldn't buy Hopkins Dawson (again...) but I would be please to watch it before a MAyweather show.

 

WBC has ordered a rematch and Hopkins cant do anything about it. It all comes down to Dawson and it was Dawsons promoter who got the rematch.
If Dawson wants this then Hopkins will have to take it.
HBO should really push for this being on May 5th.

why should Floyd give these two his hard earned money? These guys can't sell but they aren't going to fight for peanuts either. Their paychecks would come directly out of Floyd's and that's not right.

 

No chance at all. Hopkins definitely would not and Dawson probably would not fight on an undercard. When is the last time Hopkins did that -- you think he's going to start now?

Besides, Richard Schaefer has said already that this fight probably isn't going to happen. He doesn't think it's a good matchup and the money required to stage simply won't be there. HBO with Ken Herschman isn't going to throw good money after bad.

As soon as the financial details become clear to the two sides, Hopkins will simply drop the belt and we'll all move on.

 

I can't see them fighting again - either Dawson refuses or Hopkins vacates.

 

I would like this but I think there is no chance of it happening.

The problem is put Hopkins in with Bute or someone with their own fan base and he will sell. He needs one more good performance and everyone will forget about the Dawson fiasco and be on his jock again!

Dawson can't capture the American public so he doesn't have anywhere to go. The best bet for him is to fight and beat Hopkins and be that man to take away Hopkins leverage.

If he does that I dont see anyone wanting to fight Hopkins not without a belt he is too high risk.

But I think Dawson was mentally hurt by Hopkins and wont think rationally, he should be campaigning for a rematch he has EVERYTHING to gain.
