ward is just too good for him.i think bute would even lose to kessler whos only loses are to ward and calzaghe. (thats not saying i wouldnt like to see the fight though.)your thoughts gentlemen please?
indeed, i dont give bute much of a chance against ward. in fact there's not many who could look good against him such is his style. now bute against kessler i would love to see!!! reckon kessler could take it after a good scrap.....
defo,i think ward would be better off fighting the likes of hopkins.be a bit boring to watch but the outcome would be hard to judge.
Ward did better as I expected against Froch, but it isn't close to certain that he will beat Bute... The notion he doesn't want to fight him, wich would give him the Ring and (almost) "undisputed" title plus a sh!tload of money, says a lot already. Part of the doubt about Bute is because of his chin, wich he won't have to worry about when fighting Ward who can't stop anyone above C level anyway. Bute himself hits very hard to head and body so is dangerous to everyone. I actually expect Bute to beat Ward everywhere but in Oakland.
Apart from saying you think he would beat a common opponent. Technically (which is what really matters) what makes you think he's too good? Break it down for us.
I can see Ward winning a comfortable UD if he fights southpaw, and forces Bute to come forward. Ward masters range and calculates his transitions between effective counter up-jabs out of range and quick shots on the inside very well. Lead rights on the right on Bute's chin, circling to Bute's left when power straight lefts & hooks are thrown to reset and surprise Bute with jabs again. Less of a schooling than vs Froch, but still a wide UD. I can also see Bute winning a close fought UD or even by stoppage. If Ward is fine with Bute fighting on the back foot, he'll find out that Bute's head movement can be an issue, as well as Bute's ability to set up counters against pressure fighters. Depending on how close to Bute Ward operates at, Bute could surprise a lot of people with his body work. The combination of speed, accuracy and timing in Bute's shots is a threat to pretty much anybody at 168, including Ward (unless you can confidently say Ward's fought fighters similar to Bute).
Bute's one punch thump, handspeed, and southpaw fluidity pose a challenge to anyone at 168. Bute vs Ward is a 50-50, push type of affair.
