Margarito Was indeed Turning the Fight Around.

  1. They know not what the hell they speak of... All the seek to do is to raise their flag in victory regardless of the obvious LOSS.

    Denial is a terrible thing.

Margarito clearly lost his "best round" and had done very little damage to Cotto, which is the big difference between their first fight and the second one. He was not landing quality shots on Cotto, nor was he able to pin Cotto against the ropes and bombard him as he did even early in their first fight. He wasn't going to turn it around and stop Cotto, and his eye was completely swollen shut. It wouldn't have been out of line to have stopped the fight a round earlier, but because Margarito is a warrior and Smoger is a fighter's ref, they let the fight go on for a round, and Margarito clearly lost that round with the eye getting hit more.

As to your softening logic, you can just as easily say that Margarito and Pacquiao softened Cotto up, and at least one of them was likely cheating to do so.

  4. It's not the same when you WATCH a fight on the radio... Watch the actual 9th round and rethink your statement. :nono

Unlike the first fight where you could see the tide turn in Margo's favour, there was nothing in the second fight that showed that same tide turning.

Now whether that was because this time round Cotto was not busted up from being hit in the face and body with bricks, or from his camps gameplan.........

A little of both I think. He didn't look at all like he had the same power in those punches.

I don't think it was an exact parallel to the first fight, Cotto's strategy is better, but I also don't think Margarito could have won the fight due to his eye.

HOWEVER, I think Cotto would have been crushed as the first fight had Margarito had 2 good eyes. The main difference between first and second fights is the eye. Margarito WAS hurting Cotto, and WAS slowing him down. Don't think he would have won but don't think Cotto could have done much to ko Margo either.

Another thing, HBO commentators are the worse, most full of ****, biased, disgusting, sold out, unprofessional commentators out of all. ****, I'd rather watch Pinoy commentators during a Pac fight than HBO commentators.

Yep. in the first fight, there were signs of what was to come as early as round 3. there were many moments throughout the fight where cotto was fighting brilliantly but with an air of desperation.
i didn't really see any of that in the rematch, cotto looked pretty cool throughout and margarito didn't appear to hurt him that much in the 9th, he had a little more success than the earlier rounds but it in no way mirrored the first fight.

Yes besides the fact that a) Margarito COULD NOT SEE OUT OF HIS RIGHT EYE and that b) COTTO WAS LANDING LEFT HOOKS AT WILL AS A RESULT...I can definitely see how Margarito was on the verge of a monmental stoppage:roll:.

This was the key to the entire fight. Cotto's success had nothing to do with Margarito being "damaged goods". Junito came into the fight in MUCH better shape and with a completely different strategy.
