    Joe would **** ward up.

He has all the advantages or used to.

    Power/cheeen/stamina and speed.

Above all skills and slickness is there.
This aint no 34-year old Carl frochovski hit me on the cheen..

    Smokin' Joe

"Ward's resume will be better than Calzaghe's with one more good W"

I disagree because Calzaghe had 24 world title fights and won them all

Ward has only had 5 so far (plus Olympic Gold)

so even if Ward juiced up to 220 pounds and knocked out Wladimir Klitschko.

    Calzaghe's still better.

It's a fight I'd have like to have seen, and interesting clash of styles

I reckon Joe would have nicked it, like has been said, speed and mainly stamina would be a factor. I also beleive Joe would beat Bute, and easier than Ward.

Calzaghe definitely could have beaten Ward. Calzaghe's resume COULD have been better, but let's not confuse an above average resume with someone who was not a very good/great boxer. Many look at Calzaghe's unfulfilled resume as him not being very good, when in truth...this is not how it is at all.

Ward is very good at judging distance, and seems to be very intelligent during a bout. But he lacks power. Against someone like Calzaghe, this may have been his undoing. Sure, Ward could outbox Calzaghe...but could he keep up with 1200 punches in 12 rounds? Ward has shown adaptability, but so did Calzaghe during his career.

I just don't see Ward being able to match Calzaghe's output, and he certainly couldn't deter him IMO.

Ward would have been outslapped. I dont see him take Calzaghes range the way he was able to do with Kessler and Froch.

But in Oakland, Ward could have brought out his dirty tactics and hometown judges and ref. Would be hard to deal with for anyone, even Joe Calzaghe.

I'd say, all in all a very fair assessment.

the matchup is the natural one to make but I'm fairly certain calzaghe would have won UD. however, i realize that ward isn't know for his power, but why is everyone on here trying to talk about calzaghe's power like it's something special? give ward edge in power.
also think that calzaghe would beat bute easier than he would beat ward. and think ward would beat bute. boom

Actually you do give a **** about it, otherwise you wouldn't have read this thread, or commented.
    This

If he can slap his way to KO% 69,57
I wonder how his KO% would be if he could punch.

    Mikkel Kessler KO% 71.74
    Carl Froch KO% 66.67
    Andre Ward KO% 52

Calzaghe refuses to fight in Oakland, Ward refuses to fight outside Oakland. Fight doesn't happen

The only person who Calzaghe struggles with at 168 is Andre Dirrell for about 6 rounds until Dirrells glass heart shatters
