Why Jessie Vargas? What has he done to deserve a top fight? He looked awful in his last fight too. Is it because Floyd said he deserves a chance?

There are plenty of ppl Peterson should fight before this guy

I would say manny wins this one, khan was able to land flush on lamont all night but lacked the power to finish peterson and i think pac will win a ud

I'm not interested in watching Manny Pacqauio versus Lamont Peterson because I feel like Peterson still has a lot of room to grow as a fighter. At this point in his career fighting Manny Pacquaio would be a jump in class that Peterson hasn't prepared for.

Stylistically, Lamont Peterson mirrors the same come-forward fighters Manny Pacquaio has thrived against. Miguel Cotto, Ricky Hatton, David Diaz, and Antonio Margarito were all face first fighters and Peterson in spots fights a lot like those guys.

Personally, I'm tired of watching Manny Pacqauio versus the face first fighter because we all know what he does to them. I'd much rather see Pacqauio versus, Timothy Bradley, Miguel Cotto 2 at a more neutral weight, or even the winner of Ortiz-Berto 2.

Peterson is a good young boxer coming off a big win. This fight is not going to happen.

this is where you are wrong, Lamont peterson can box. he is very versatile. the times in his career when he has fought coming forward is when he outmatched from the outside. how this translates into a fight with manny, no one knows but lamont can def fight off the back foot and work off the jab. maybe you have only seen him fight once?

There's no doubt that Peterson can box, but he would end up being athletically outgunned against Pacquiao the same way he was with Khan. I don't think his plan B against Khan would work against Pacquiao either; Pacquiao's footwork and at non-hopeless boxing IQ would keep him out of the spots that Khan found himself in. Whatever plan C was against Khan would have to work for the Pacquiao fight.

i don't disagree with you at all. I am not sure if lamont's boxing ability is on the level to fight pac man from the outside. However, i would say that the only advantage that lamont would have is that he is taller that manny and his jab would be more successful. i wouldnt look at the ahmir khan fight so much, i would look more at the bradley fight. in the event that manny is able to outbox lamont, i dont think lamon't brawling style would do much bc manny can throw punches in bunches going backwards.

my original comment was intended to infrom the other guy who seems to think that lamont is a pure brawler.

Cotto was coming off of a close win over Joshua Clottey. Lamont Peterson is coming off a close win over Amir Khan. Not much of a difference there, only Cotto being a much better fighter than Peterson. **** off.

I scored the Khan fight to Khan by 2 points. I thought Khan fought like a dirty scumbag, but hey... I don't think Peterson is all that. However, he has shown the gap in skill between Bradley and Khan and justifies all who have said Bradley is better all along.

Bottom line: this "Pac/Peterson" will not happen anytime soon and, let me just say, never. Pacquiao TKO 5

Peterson vs. who? It has got to be Khan II or I guess Bradley II or I don't think I care. Especially with Maidana/Alexander moving up to 147 to fight, where I suspect they will both stay. Who else is at 140? Morales and Judah do not interest me. Garcia might interest me if he were to win vs. Morales or Morales' replacement (since the surgery). I don't hate the above idea of Jessie Vargas. People have to realize that realistic things don't work out, Vargas would be a good fall back plan if he wanted to pus out and defend his title a few times.

Peterson should face whoever offers the most money between Bradley and Khan. The only other factors he should consider if the numbers are close enough should be (a) if it were in DC, likely doable against Bradley, or (b) if he honestly in his own mind felt he had a significantly better chance against one or the other.

Pacquiao... With Mayweather in jail, everybody knows they won't fight, so just onto the next one and the next one should be JMM IV. Or potentially: Berto/Ortiz winner, Bradley, Maidana/Alexander winner (promotional fits won't allow), Senchencko, M. Jones, Brook

no matter what the outcome is, I think Peterson, Bradley and Alexander have done enough to step in the ring with Pac.

I think they make pac look silly at times, but then when they get hit, the plan goes out the window.
