if you knew how to score a fight you'd give that to Quartey. it doesn't matter that Quartey got knocked down more. the rounds he won, he won in much more dominant fashion youu fuking idiot. not to mention he knocked De La Hoya down after the first knockdown and ended up winning the round for himself

How does a fighter dominate the other when he gets hit more and knocked down more? Are you mentally ill?
The round they shared knock downs was only a 10-9 round for Quartey. Oscar saved himself the 10-8 by flooring quartey also.
Quartey did FUK ALL from round 9 on. Just pump out the odd Jab, most of which weren't landing. Oscar actually threw combo's and landed the better shots. Even Foreman said so.
Quartey didn't do enough to win. Oscar did. Deal with it.

Oh, and it doesn't matter if you win a round in MORE dominate fashion when it's only 2-3 round the entire fight. Those are still just 10-9 rounds genius. Oscar had the only 10-8 round the whole fight.

Yep. The mayorga fight was especially impressive considering a 20 month layoff and Mayorga trained harder than ever to beat Oscar, he HATED oscar prior to Oscar beating the respect out of him. Nobody's knocked Mayorga down like that, and that fukin fast. Tito couldn't do it with 2 free left hooks. Took Trinidad a lot of work to finally put him down in 8. Oscar put him away in 6 and almost in the 1st round.

Yea, I was really surprised to see Mosley have such a hard time. That fight was a minute from going to decision.

Look at Mayorga's face after Tito and after DLH...Tito put a monumental ass whooping on Mayorga, he also handled whitaker with much more ease. Oscar beating Hopkins would have been Huge...I wish he would have.

It would have been a HUGE, historic win of monumental proportions. For a guy starting his career at 130 pounds to be able to beat one of the best middleweight champions ever would have been incredible, especially considering that Hopkins was a huge middleweight, and Oscar wasn't even a big, strong 154 pounder. He was muscled around rather easily at times by both Vargas and Mosley at 154 (even though he clearly outboxed both), and Hopkins was CLEARLY much bigger and stronger than Oscar.

By comparison, Hagler was not a gigantic middleweight, and Leonard started his career at 147. Leonard was naturally a bigger man and carried additional weight more effectively than Oscar did.

As for the fight itself, I have it 4-4 before round 9 each time I see it, but I can accept 5-3 scorecards in either man's favor up to that point. It was close, and I think Oscar gave a more competitive showing against Hopkins than Trinidad did, even if Trinidad lasted longer. I wonder if the fight would have gone any differently had Oscar not cut up his right hand before the fight.
