Jones vs Hopkins - who wins today?

Funny (really), but what do you base it on? Jones had trouble hitting Hop when he still had EXTREME hand speed, how will he hit him now that he just has good/very good hand speed?

 

Hopkins is a more static opponent now though. It's like Winky Wright. He was a slick boxer, but now stands there using his guard to protect him. Hopkins moves his body to avoid being hit flush, but he is still there to hit. Even though Jones has less speed and agility than when he beat Hopkins, Hopkins style in 2008 is more suited to a slower Jones.

Anyway, I think Jones would win. Better workrate, more pleasing style and he still has enough agility to avoid being hit often by Hopkins. A close fight though. 8-4 or 7-5, Jones.

 

I dunno man, i thought hopkins was using his legs pretty damn much in his last 2 fights.

Hopkins would beat the **** out of Jones

 

Hopkins has alrdy stated he isnt interested in Jones or Trinidad. Because he recognises they are shot fighters and have been beaten up in recent years.

Funny listening to these Jones fan boys that think he is "back" lol. Hopkins knows nothing is to be gained so has opted to face the p4p number 3 Joe Calzaghe. My respect goes to hopkins.

RJJ by UD.....B-Hop is very overated and is only effective against smaller opponents. He has a horrible punch output per round...some might point out that RJJ does as well...but RJJ is faster and capable of landing much cleaner shots....also, B-hop relies on holding alot and head butting as he charges in...not to mention his huge inventory of other illegal moves......Power at this point in their careers is equal....I don't see the outcome being any different then their first encounter...Roy is still faster and has more skill than B-Hop....B-hop has made his career by slowing down fights and neutralizing his opponents by holding and frustrating them.....hard to do with Roy's defensive style.....

For some time now I thought that hopkins can take it easly, but remember that hopkins throws small amouts of punches and is defense first fighter and Jones loves counter punch game in center of the ring, Im not saying that Roy would win this now, but I think it would be a competetive fight unless Hopkins catches him with smth crazy (wich isnt very likely).
After Tarver and Wright fights Hopkins looks unbeatable with his punch and hug tactics, so Im leaning towards Hopkins in this one.
Prime for Prime I think Roy still takes it, by close decision.

if a green jermain taylor can defeat hopkins twice...anything can happen. roy is a lot more talented than jermain even at this stage in roy's career. roy would definitely get up for a bernard hopkins challenge.

 

I think RJJ would win a close decision maybe split decision.... I still think Jones Jr is all wrong for Hops.. The best way to beat Jones jr now is pure aggresiveness, throwing lots of punches and backing Roy up, (which is why i would pick Joe C over Roy now a days) The problem with Hops is that he isn't an aggresive fighter so that will work In Jones favor. Jones has advantages in most of the major catagories, (speed, workrate,power,accuracy) I would give Hops the advantage in defense and say footwork is about equal since neither of them are big movers anymore. This would be a very close fight and one that is very winnable for both fighters.
