Oh, those were the days. I was getting the buzz watching this and I've seen it before!

 

I always thought trainers where on a set rate rather than a percentage once a fighter is earning massive amounts. 75k per fight sound very reasonable considering your not the one putting your life on the line.

 

10% is the industry standard but you do get guys like Floyd Mayweather and maybe Steward and Roach who often work on a consultancy fee like $500k.

If I'm not mistaken, Brendan in the beginning was also Nazs manager and I can't remember the particulars but took something like 35% and the animosity built from there. It lay in Naz falling in love with is "rocket launchers" and more and more believing his success was completely down to him and his hands.

 

Maybe they get set fees today but it was 10% back then,you have to realize your trainer puts the hours in for very little early on in your carreer , and should benefit from the success of his fighters , as without this ingredient a lot of good fighters under achieve , as the performance of a couple of British world champions have learned to their detriment ,after splitting . I don't believe great trainers make great fighters or that great fighters make their trainers reputations . It's a two way street , as it should be in business win win .

No argument from me. 10% is more then fair, especially when someone like Ingle took him from a youngester. However I think the issue was routed in the 35% take and it got bigger as Naz got bigger.

 

It was the fact that Barrera controlled the fight, Naz was all over the place in terms of dictating any of the battles. Naz was waiting for the engagements where he could connect more precisely and take Marco out of his element.
Naz pretty lost the fight before the 1st bell rang..(no front flip entrance). lol.
But He did take the defeat like a true gent! He gave Marco his props!
