Nope, he is. It's a bull**** paper title, but unfortunately the WBA regular title is the same title the greats of the past held. That's how it will go in the history books. They've ****ed over all the greats of the past with this Super Champ, Regular and Interim belt sanctioning-fee scam. Wish the everyone would stop recognising the WBA so it would just disappear. That's never going to happen, because there will always be fake champions like Povetkin out for their fake belts. It's frustrating, but we all just have to live with this sad reality.
And who is gonna take it off his hands? Whoever gets the WBC next, will be a paper champion....because they are not winning it from Vitali.
You can't have 2 proper champions sharing a division. That pretty much goes against the definition of what a Champion is. Wlad is champ, Vitali is no.1 contender or whatever the **** he wants to be. Not Champ though.
Povetkin didnt make the rules. He got the belts...give some slack. I dont love the idea either but it's the only way we're going to see top HW guys fight eachother. 'Less yer still dream Klit boys will rumble in front of their peepaw and meemaw
Your post has nothing to do with my point. As for yours, other divisions have 4 or more champs or belt holders. Are you saying HW division has different standards than other divisions?
I'm ok with Povetkin being regular WBA champion, look on it from other side: if Povetkin wasn't regular WBA champion he would still fight jorneymen like Oruh or Firta, at least Huck is not that bad matchup, though i don't give him more than 15% of chance to win.
Why is a fight a good matchup if the challenger has only 15% chance? Kinda doesn't make sense. This fight is nothing but a public Sauerland sparring session with a belt on the line. Win/win for Sauerland, Huck and Povetkin.
No doubt about it, Povetkin is the number 1 challenger and ducking Klitchsko. He is not a world champion. Only Vitali and Wlad are. The WBA should be ashamed of all this Super, interim bollocks.
I agree with this. But, some champions want to do things on their own accordance. For example fight when they want to fight and ask for more money and have all these stipulations in contracts. Povetkin is a paper champ just like a few others.
Povetkin isn't even a top 5 heavy IMO, he's a ****ing joke..... Arreola would proly beat his ass. His 2 biggest wins- shot to **** Chagaev in a close unimpressive fight, green as **** Chambers who he barely beat in his hometown in a close fight. I'd like a Chambers rematch I think he'd outbox him now as he's gotten far better since their first close fight and Povetkin has shown no improvement.....
