Seems neither guy can land a big fight at this time. Everyone in the middleweight division is scared of Golovkin (including Pirog) and Lara seems like he's willing to take on all comers (including Pirog). Fight makes sense, would American TV pick it up though?
Don't think American TV would take it up except for perhaps some ESPN channel. Would favour Lara in this bout though.
Golovkin is a weight class higher and looks a hell of a lot stronger to me. Lara's been overrated since he was robbed against P-Will. The fight before that he barely eeked out a majority draw and people were talking about how overhyped he was. I see GGG KOing Lara if this fight ever happened.
The thing with LARA is he talk alot but when someone actually steps up, he stops the talking case in point he had a good fight with Trout willing to put up his belt and give him a shot, LARA never responded and later was announced he fighting Hearns lol
Doc, that is BS the one that stop talking was Trout and that draw against Molina remember that he didn't train (Lara's fault of course) because Shields was with Rigondeaux for his fight in Ireland and 3 days before the fight he had some problem with his tooth (not his fault) still he didn't cancel and went ahead with the fight, Trout went into hiding after Lara's answer his calling
This is a Good Fight. Why are poeple saying Golovkin is too big? It is posted Golovkin walks around like 160 or somethiung.. ffs he could EASILY make light middleweight. And you can see his frames looks every small as true middleweight... Well that only makes him more special beating up much bigger guys than he is...
I wonder if interest from across the pond would make Golovkin drop down to 154? Anything below middleweight in Germany is pretty much ignored so I get the feeling Golovkin fights at 160 as that's where the money/exposure/opportunity lies. Now he can obviously handle himself at middleweight but with the right backing/interest/money perhaps he could make the cut to light mid? In any event it would be a good fight vs Lara, one i'd be very interested to watch. I could see Golovkin taking a decision, Lara being busier (at least looking so) with Golovkin applying the more effective/educated pressure. Plenty of good fights to be made at 154 and 160, here's hoping 2012 brings them together.
He's "small" by modern standards. If we look at recent middleweight champs like Hopkins, Taylor, Pavlik and now Chavez Jr (Champion status debatable), they've all been 6 foot plus and cutting down from the 180 range. He's not small in relation to the current landscape at 160 though, only Chavez is markedly bigger. Golovkin is a strong guy though, certainly punches above his weight and almost always weighs in a pound or so under the limit at weigh-in.
Why is golovkin unable to get big fights, he might be the best at 160 with sergio. I want to see him in big fights.
Golovkin's next fight will probably be on Wlad-Mormeck card, it will be on RTL so the payday will be okay and so Lara might take the fight. If they can't get N'Dam or Sturm, I think Murray might be a decent opponent after his draw with Felix Sturm.
