    you heard it from me first i have been saying this now for 2 years. by the end of 2012 if we have not had a world war 3 gary russel jr will be p4p best.

    Nope. Some day maybe but wont be for a good few years!!
    Forgetting the Likes of Ward, Martinez, Gamboa, Donaire who are still 'young' and quiet a bit ahead of him on P4P lists etc...

    So you think in a year when he will probably have 3 or 4 fights maximum he is gonna get to number 1 P4P?

    Can you name the fights he needs to land and win to get there?

    Gamboa is faster, more powerful and more skilled. Oh, and don't forget Gamboa also had a much better amateur career than Russell.

    He will do good to even beat some opponents rated worth anything to enable him to be ranked in the top 10 of his own division. Don't see that happening though.

    Awesome fighter though.

    Maybe Golden Boy will match him up with Ponce Deleon near the end of the year. Of course, facing any of Arum's fighters is not likely to happen.
