Good video man. Good music and clips. As pissed off as I was (and am) at the judges scorecards, at least I find comfort in knowing that everyone knows who the real winner in that fight was.

 

By far the most unbiased video of these so called "highlights" but you have to wonder why Pac's best shots were not included, Pac's excellent evasion and counter rights were not "highlighted" and Pac's lead lefts were not shown as succintly.

It really was an example of how to win a fight backing up and countering. Its obviously very hard to do, well he didn't they robbed him. We know that he did though, and put on a amazing boxing display. To win like that you to be that good, and that precise, and he was. Amazing by JMM.

Going by that highlight alone it's hard to see how you could call this a robbery. Most of JMM's punches were blocked or were hitting air too. And there were more pacquiao moments not covered. Good highlight nonetheless, minus the bias.

Round 1
This was a close round. Initially I had it for Marquez, I thought his body shots were enough to win the round. Neither fighter appeared to have done much watching it live and through the clouds of higher expectations. Upon review, Pacquiao was landing straight left hands throughout the round and some counter jabs. There is a case for an even round, they were both content in feeling each other out for the most part, however I would give it to Pacquiao. He did more to deserve the round.

Round 2
When I first scored it I had it close, leaning to Marquez. Watching it again in more detail it, Marquez might have won it a little more clearer. The round was a battle of Marquez's vaunted right hand and Pacquiao's lighting straight left. Marquez landed the cleaner blows, inlcuding a couple of big right hand counters, so he takes the round for me on the better quality of his punches.

Round 3
Very tough round to score. It was a tit for tat round for the most part, they were about even in clean punches. Going into the final 10 seconds Marquez was probably edging it, he did slightly more work, had a better variety in his attack, and Pac was a little sloppier trying to press the action. However in those last 10 seconds Pacquiao landed two counter right hooks over Marquez's lazy jabs, one of them visibly wobbled Marquez for a second. For such a close round, where neither fighter had any real control, those were the most telling punches of the round. I have to give the round to Pacquiao based on that.

Round 4
Another tough round to score. Very little in terms of action and quality punches. Marquez was sporadically landing some jabs, a couple of body shots, missed with everything else or it was blocked, Pacquiao was landing the better head shots but they weren't all hard or landing flush. Pacquiao put a nice little sequence together at the end of the round with a few counters in a row while slipping most of Marquez's punches. He then got a little excited in the final seconds and Marquez made him pay with a right hand counter as Pacquiao swung wildly to end the round which staggered him backwards. It was a great punch, but was Marquez's only real clean power punch of the round, If you give the round to Marquez it literally would be on one good punch, and some jabs and body shots, If you give it to Pacquiao it would be for outworking Marquez landing more power punches to head even though they weren't all effective and for showing the better defence. Probably should be a draw.

Round 5
This was a clear round for Marquez. He was hitting Pacquiao throughout the round with numerous good crisp uppercuts and right hands, including a big right hand in the last minute which knocked Pacquiao's head back and was the best punch of the round. Marquez mixed up his attack aswell landing some jabs and some body shots. He was controlling the distance and Pacquiao was having difficulty finding Marquez with his punches and landed very few clean ones. Easy round to score for Marquez.

Round 6
Close round, not many quality punches landed from either fighter. Marquez got off to a good start to the round with jab, keeping Pacquiao off him and reducing him to wild swinging punches to try to land, and also landed some early body punches. In the second half of the round Pacquiao began to take over the round and was tagging Marquez with shot after shot and barely got hit but for a grazing right hand in between landing a 3-4 punch combo. All up Pacquiao landed about 10 punches to 1 in that period before Marquez replied with a nice double right hand. Pacquiao then landed a couple of good straight left hands to body before Marquez landed a body punch combo on the bell. This round could be scored even, but if I have to give it to someone it has to go to Pacquiao. He landed alot more punches than Marquez and had the most dominant sequence of the round.

Round 7
This was a clear round for Marquez. After trading jabs at the start, Marquez landed a hard right hand which visibly shook Pacquiao up and looked like it may have hurt him for a second. Marquez attacked trying to capitalise, but Pacquiao was able to block the follow up combo. Pacquiao was very wary after that, reaching and flailing alot with his punches trying not to get hit, while Marquez was controlling the round with his left hand, landing a few jabs and punches to the head and body. Pacquiao finally seemed to have composed himself in the second half of the round, landing a few good clean punches to the bell, but Marquez also landed with some good right hands. Easy round to score for Marquez, he landed the biggest punch of the round and controlled most of it.

Round 8
Another close, highly competitive round. Both fighters landed about the same amount of punches. Neither really controlled the round, and almost everytime one would land, the other would answer landing a similarly effective punch. The few right hands Marquez landed were probably the prettier punches, but Pacquiao landed equally as good right hands of his own. This is the only round I can't score for either fighter. I feel it would be an injustice to score it for one when the other did just as much, and when neither fighter did anything significant to seperate themselves. I have to score this round even.

Round 9
Tough round to score. Neither fighter landed many clean punches. Pacquiao was busier and landed more, but Marquez landed the best punches of the round, that swinging overhand right hand counter in the last minute at the end of that wild exchange and then a jab, left hook to the body, uppercut combo soon after. Pac responded with a combination of his own and a couple of good right hands to end the round, but that little burst by Marquez and the few punches he landed were the most memorable of the round. I'm giving it to Marquez because of that, but it's a round which could be scored a draw or scored either way as Pacquiao was outlanding him throughout the round despite Marquez having the best punches of the round.

Round 10
Pretty clear round for Marquez. He had it won in the first half of the round by landing an uppercut and a few good right hands, including the best punch of the round a right hook counter as Pacquiao hit hit simultaneously with a short right hook, Pacquiao's only good punch in that period. Marquez didn't do much the rest of the round, Pacquiao landed some clean punches in the second half and finished strong, but probably not enough to make up for Marquez's good early work. I could see Pacquiao stealing this round due to his better finish to the round, but I give it to Marquez for landing the better punches which came in the first half of the round.

Round 11
Closely fought round from beginning to end. Fought at a good pace, both fighters were busy, tagging each other with alot of punches, and quite a few counters. I gave it to Pacquiao, he was landing more and he landed the harder blows. He rocked Marquez's head on a few occasions including that thudding right hook counter that landed flush around the midway point, that was the best punch of the round. It was endless back and forth action, whenever it looked like Pacquiao would take control of the round, Marquez would fire back with a good punch or a counter. One of those you can score a draw or either way depending on what you like, but if you're consistent in scoring on clean and effective punching you have to give it to Pacquiao.

Round 12
Pacquiao clearly won this round. Marquez landed one good right hand counter, that was pretty much the only clean punch he landed. Pacquiao outlanded him by a big ratio, including about 5-6 clean hard shots, with that last big straight left hand at the end to punctuate it. Pacquiao also showed the better defense, barely getting touched and countering and slipping many of Marquez's punches. Easy round to score for Pacquiao.



Adding up my scores I had it 6-5 and 1 round even in favor of Manny Pacquiao. It was a good, close and competitive fight for the most part. A high speed chess match.
