No, there wasn't dumnbass. BOth guys fought safe like I and others thought they would. Of course people will still buy the fight. Casual fans make up MOST of the PPV buys. Casual fans only know names and nothing else. You're more a casual fan then a diehard. :deal
Floyd Mayweather Jr. is what's wrong with boxing today. He has all of the talent and none of the brains. He's fighting for money and ego.
I think I've said this before, but I'm pretty sure the PPV buys will be less in this rematch. Alot of casual fans, and non-boxing fans, saw the first fight and were not impressed...some thought it was a waste of money (I don't blame them, they didn't know enough about the 2 fighters). One of the things I do remember later that night after the fight ended was somebody talking to their friend saying "This is why UFC is better". Now I don't personally agree with them, but if anything the first fight had given people a reason to watch UFC (and MMA feeds off of boxing failures, and gains more popularity in doing so). I'll probably watch this fight, but I've also ordered RJJ/Trinidad - it's just a "b" button on my remote, I've got the money for PPVs.
The sheeple will buy it but Oscar and Floyd should think of the true fans of the art and quit ruining boxing by always dismissing the deserving, more fan-friendly fighters like Cotto and Williams.
Yes, there was dickhead. Floyd even stood toe to toe with Oscar at times and was outdueling him. Alot of DIEHARD fans will buy the fight. If you say they won't then youe clueless.
Boxing will be fine with or without Mayweather. When you got guys like Chad Dawson and Miguel Cotto, boxing will be still be popular no matter what.
Ali didnt just beat Foreman, Liston, and Frazier. He beat Top 10 fighter after top 10 fighter. Thats the mark of a true champion if you ask me.
