    No.

But that is a little bit unfair to Leonard who's best weight was welterweight and Jones being big middleweight.

Not a fair comparison. Middleweight was Leonard's highest weight, (putting aside that bull**** with Lalonde, Leonard even admitted that they messed with the weigh-in so that his weight would read as high as it did) while it was Roy's lowest, (and he was really more of a Super Middle to Light Heavy who squeezed into middleweight) Leonard only fought there after suffering a detached retina and being in retirement for several years.

    So no.

If they were the same size and started off at the same weight, then I'd favor Leonard just slightly. Equal or nearly equal speed, better chin, and when he wanted to he could really sit down on his punches and throw with bad intentions.

Its pretty tough but if you talking p4p during thier primes its not even close

    1-Jones
    2-Leonard
    3-Whitaker
    4-Mayweather

    If your talking best careers

    1-SRL
    2-Pea
    3-PBF
    4-RJ

As of right now. Jones last ten fights have really hurt all ten coming after he should have quit. I say that because as time past by Jones will climb higher and higher up all time lists.

P4P I dont think there has ever been a fighter better then a prime Jones

Strange to me that you would put Jones number 1 talking primes and 4th in terms of career.

Roy has achieved more than Floyd has in my view, but I would never rank Roy ahead of Ray or Pea in terms of P4P greatness at their peaks.

I dont see it as strange at all. As I stated Jones is hurt by losing so many fights after his prime. But the truth is during his prime he was unmatched. From say 1994 to 2003 Jones was the best fighter EVER. The problem is Jones is 6-7 since that point. Had he quit after the Ruiz fight many if not most would have him as a top 5 all timer right now. He will climb high in those list inside the top 15 but it will take time, time for people to forget those late loses.

Prime p4p to me means who would win a fight all things equal in terms of weight. That is a no brainer. I would Pick Jones to beat just about everyone EVER.

In terms of Careers Jones left fights out there. Not saying that the others didnt, SRL had his Pryor, Mayweather has his Pac. Jones' top wins for me arent equal to SRL maybe pretty close to the other two.

In 15 years Jones will likely rank above all three. Unless Floyd goes out in a blaze beats Pac, Martinez and say a cotto. then he could end up as the top out of the four.

Leonard and Whitaker are about on par. Roy is just behind them. Floyd is a bit behind Roy.

    Leonard
    Mayweather
    Whitaker

    Jones

Top three razor close (shoot me, but I think Leonard is a tad overrated). Losses or a bad loss by Mayweather would drop him beneath Whitaker, but until that happens, if he died today, he would be above for me. Jones significantly behind the three. Mayweather would have to "pull a Roy Jones" in order to finish beneath him.

    No he was not

Ray Robinsons victorys run of 128 - 1 -2 and achievements from 1941 - 1951, are much more impressive, if you actuall go through the effort of looking at his record, wins ove Angott, Zivic, Bell, LaMotta, Gavilan, plus hes more impressive on film.

    As is Ray Leonard run from 1979 - 1987 wih a record 34 - l - 0 wins over Benitez, Duran, Hearns & Hagler.

Roberto Duran run of 73 - 1 - 0, with wins over Marcel, Buchanan, De Jesus, Palomino. Leonard.

thats just to name a few

thats just tough company right there...talent and skill wise in their primes they are all probally on par with each other...but when u include careers SRL is well above them all becaue he had Hagler,Hearns, and Duran....he is a lucky man to have been amongst that era of talent.

Whitaker would be second as he had a good amount of great talent as well around him to make his name that much bigger and to showcase his full potential.

Floyd has faced decent talent comming up although it has not been what everyone wanted but the names that come up would still not propell him had he faced them and won Margo and Cotto certainly do not elevate him anywhere near the top two....his resume though is still solid but he does need a hagler or hearns esque type of fight...problem is their is no one with that type of talent around.

Roy is last for me....listen prime Roy and his talent were just unmatched. However when we look at career Roy has exposed himself as just merely relying on his physical talent and not fully developing the boxing skill as a whole. The other three can and will box competitive beyond their physical primes as the top two have and still remained very competitive. Roy to me will always be that guy who in his prime probaly could have beat everyone in his weight range lets say from LH down.

I really feel fighters with other great fighters around them have a lot to be thankful for. Its ashame the talent cant always be the same acorss the era's. If you take some of the names away from some of the fighters or replace the resumes with others they dont appear as great without the other greats.

    1. RJJ

I think people are focussing on RJJ's late career than what he was like in his prime years. I would give him number 1 status as he dominated EVERYONE, including 2 all-time greats. For me, SRL losing against Duran and just beating Hearns twice shows the difference between the two. He would have KO'ed both Duran and Hearns.

Comparing him to all the fighters, he had the best speed, power and reflexes of all. His speed and power was frightening and the stuff he could do was simply superman like. He had KO power in both fists. Yes, his defence was not on par with Pea or May, but his insane speed and reflexes compensated for it.

I rewatched the Hopkins fight and the way he totally dominated him, while Hopkins tried his damn best to spoil it, was great to see. People say he had no inside game, but the way he controlled Hopkins charging/roughing up, was a delight to see. Had Hopkins fought without the dirt, he wouldn't have lasted the distance or probably not been the same fighter ever.
