Very sad news for his family and friends. I recall him from when I first started following the sport and have attached a copy of his record. http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=4195&cat=boxer He lost his pro debut against Tyson Fury's dad. On his record faced most domestic HWs of his generation and came up 2nd best most of the time. However during the mid 1990's he had a purple patch beating Derek Williams and Julius Francis amongst others
Michael was a good heavyweight. Steve Lillis will provide a fitting tribute on the BBC London Boxing Hour tomorrow night (Thurs 29th) between 8-9pm. I'm guessing Steve saw him more than any other boxing writer. Adios and see you tomorrow night.
I was lucky enough to meet Michael shortly after this book was written. I was at a Press Conference with Ricky Hatton when Michael appeared with a few copies of his new book. He signed my copy and we had a good chat. Such a loss to the sport, and indeed the world. Rest in peace Champ.
