  4. He might as well.

He was never getting the fight with Chavez in a million years, and TV weren't going to do anything to force it either.

HBO are just as bent as the alphabets these days.

Martinez is just after the best possible risk/reward fight for himself, same as Chavez Jr.

He can **** off. One the one hand Chavez is overrated, **** and all that bollocks but Martinez, no1 MW and top 10 P4P fighter, wants to fight this protected hypejob :huh

And did he forget that the WBO also stripped him? I haven't heard DiBella and Sergio calling for a Pirog fight recently.

**** Martinez, he is ducking Chavez. He is a bitching, nearly 40 year old non-draw who looked like **** in his last fight.

In all seriousness, he's right up for Macklin or Chavez apparently. Why not Golovkin, Pirog or Kouji?

It's Arums fault the fight isn't happening, he never puts his fighters in tough match ups.

    :deal Precisely.

Screw Maravilla, War Chavez Jr, **** Arum.

  11. There is that argument I guess.

I suppose when a fighter has had a 50+ fight career and is in his mid-30's, with a few big paydays out there he'll want to chase them.... but he's not had a ''hard'' career IMO.

He'd have been best just knocking out his #1 contenders flat out for a couple of years ala Hagler, make people sit up and take notice rather than ''I want to fight Floyd/Manny'' every ten minutes.

He's in a predicament as far as that goes, he's from a ''minority'' boxing country in a mainstream weight class, speaks no English and is an easy guy to avoid and still be able to make money.

    Despite being the champion.

    :-(

Because this is such a valid reason...

"A WBO champion who wins a non-WBO championship in a weight class that is different than the weight class in which he holds his WBO championship must decide within 10 days of the non-WBO championship which title in which weight class he will retain. No WBO champion may hold a non-WBO championship in a weight class that is different from the weight class of his WBO championship."

The paragraph admits their corruption. If its a WBO belt then its okay, if its not then we cause **** like a corrupt org should.

Funny thing is they could have an exception as they have done before. Corrupt ****s.

Chavez is easily the biggest draw out of them and is realistically the biggest fight out there for Martinez so I can understand why he is desperate for the fight.

Not sure why he has no interest in Pirog, but he needs to start doing something with his career he has only had two fights since winning the title and they were against low level opponents. Golovkin is still involved in some nasty proceedings with Universum (I wish they would **** off and die already horrendous promoters) and he hasn't faced a legit top 10 fighter yet, so I think he needs to build a name and prove himself.

Kouji lost his last fight :barf

It's harsh to blame Freddie for this - he's not the matchmaker/promoter.

    http://www.***********.com/roach-chavez-kick-sergio-martinezs-ass-right-now--46260

Honestly, Sergio just needs to keep busy. He can easily fight 3 times a year - two biggish fights in the US on HBO/Showtime and a keep-busy in Argentina to build himself up over there.

I'm sure if he went over to Russia they'd pay him well to take on Pirog. He could even go to Germany and have a few fights there to build up a Sturm fight but DiBella/Martinez don't want to take this risk. There's not many big fights at MW but he can keep active and make it so that he just can't be ignored.
