how did you have the fight, i watched it about a year ago and had Kessler winning but i do remember the fight being quite a close one.
I was one of the minority, that gave the fight to Froch,i rember a poll in here which was landside in favour of Kessler
Something like 7 5, never felt carl was going to win the decision, Kessler fought like a man possessed and was coming out on top of the exchanges through sheer determination
Kessler by a couple. Fight changed when he went to the body with the right hand. That's what won it for him.
1. Even. Kessler more aggressive, Froch landed more. 2. Kessler. Clear controlling ring, doing better work. 3. Kessler. Froch jabbing well but missing too often. 4. Froch. Landed big shots, good movement. Kessler started too late. 5. Froch. Imposed him self more, was a trip, had his foot behind Kessler as he backed up. 6. Kessler. Neither landed too many. 7. Kessler. In and out controlling range and landing more. 8. Kessler. His best round so far, had Froch hurt. 9. Kessler. Close but Froch looked slow, and Kessler's defense was good. 10. Froch. Kessler was wild. 11. Kessler. Landed the cleaner shots and was more accurate. 12. Froch. Only just, not surprised people can't agree on the last too rounds. So 116-113 Kessler.
As much as I wished Froch to win, I'd have found it very hard to give Froch anything other than losing a very close decision. Having said that, I think Kessler being on home turf did give him an advantage as it often does for any fighter. Both on and off screen I'm fairly sure the crowd noise would have influenced folks perception of the fight, though of course that's the norm. All in all I don't think Froch was quite busy enough. I'm not sure that fighting off the back foot away from home in Denmark was ever going to be a plan that worked unless he was clearly out working his man, which at best he was always going to struggle to do. Any close rounds with Kessler going forward in his own backyard were always going to go Kessler's way. Froch needed to do more than make rounds simply questionable, he didn't.
