How many active heavyweights would you back to beat Jon Jones?

    Choose from this list:

    Junior dos Santos
    Cain Velasquez
    Alistair Overeem
    Josh Barnett
    Daniel Cormier
    Frank Mir
    Sergei Kharitonov
    Antonio Silva
    Cheick Kongo
    Roy Nelson
    Fedor Emelianenko
    Fabricio Werdum

Off the top of my head, I can see Junior dos Santos and Josh Barnett beating Bones, and I anticipate Velasquez, Cormier and Mir giving him very difficult fights.

I think I'd back him to beat the rest, although Kharitonov, Bigfoot and Werdum would provide tricky tests.

    Thoughts? :bbb

JDS, Reem, and Cain are guys i'd be pretty confident in him getting beaten by.

Barnett's wrestling sucks, and he's slow, so I think he'd get lit up standing and wouldn't be able to get a takedown.

Mir would probably get the Vera treatment if Jones gets added power from more weight.

The other guys are either to small or not skilled enough in all areas.

Tho he would probably be ****ed if Bigfoot was able to get a takedown.

So many great match ups for Bones at HW

Alistair would destroy him. JDS and Barnett would likely beat him.

Stylistically, I think I'd be more confident of Barnett beating Jones than I would of Cain beating Jones, not that I'm saying Barnett would beat Cain.

Josh is teak-tough, I can see him walking through fire to get a hold of Bones, and then using his extra weight, strength, and grappling experience to dominate Jon on the floor.

If Antonio Silva and Frank Mir had better punch resistance, I could see them doing the same, but I don't think those two would be able to handle Bones's artillery on the way in the way that Barnett would IMO.

Cain isn't going to get a sub the way that Barnett, Bigfoot or Mir could, so I think eventually Bones would escape from the ground, and break him down in the stand-up.

We will have to see how he puts on weight, against those guys he would not have this huge advantage he has,so its hard to say.

Unless Bones fights smart, and stays elusive on the outside until Ubereem gasses, and then Jones could pick him off with ease.

The problem is with the weak wrestling, he'd have to drag him to the ground, and to do that, he would have to clinch, and that isn't a good idea unless your Overeem.

A healthy non-ring rusted Cain would be really quick and very strong, along with hitting like a mac truck.

Cain is a better mma wrestler than the other wrestlers Jones has fought.

He'd get taken down, then the hammer fists would reign down at a rapid rate. :hey

How many guys have excaped out from underneath Cain and his hammerfists from hell?

    A scared and beaten Brock?

There was a reason he was scared.

I'd take Junior and Overeem to light him up on the feet and be too big and strong for Jones to take down, so I'd pick both of them to win comfortably. Other than that id make Barnett a slight favourite, all depending if he can get it to the floor to utilise that catch wrestling, which i think would give Bones fits. Cain might be able to out wrestle him as well so I'd give him a good chance. The rest get ****ed by him in my opinion. Mir and Werdum would be lit up and unable to take it to the ground wher they want it, Fedor and Cormier are just to small to be able to do anything, Bigfoot is too slow and cumbersome and Carwin and Kharitonov just arent good enough. As far as Nelson goes, I'd pick Shogun, Hendo and Machida to demolish him, hes not even a threat to Jones.

Jones has the skills and the physical attributes to make any fight competitive.
He hasn't shown any vulnerabilities that anyone at HW would be able to exploit, with the possible exception of possibly maybe his striking, as his reach advantage would be diminished somewhat (but he'd still have a longer reach than everyone).
Probably the only guys I'd really back to beat him would be JDS and Cain, as they both have similar levels of athleticism and explosiveness, they're big, fast and powerful guys. Overeem, Carwin, Cormier, Kharitonov would all have the chance to land some bombs and shake him up. Mir, Silva, Barnett, Werdum could give him some issues on the ground. Fedor is Fedor.

I still don't think I'd want money on the line in any of those fights.

    All of them?

    haha.

Sergei got taken down and made to look like he just start training when he fought Monson.

You guys really think Jones couldn't take him down and dominate?
