Who do you think Sergio Martinez should fight after Macklin? Pacquiao is to small, Mayweather is going to jail, Bob Arum won't let Cotto or Chavez jr. fight him. In my opinion his options are very limited. If Paul Williams could beat Ishida easily, then its Williams. If not maybe Kirkland at 154.:bbb
The WBC have ordered chavez to fight Sergio after he makes a defense against Rubio, assuming Macklin doesnt pull of an upset id say Chavez doesnt have much choice unless Arum decides to make him move down to fight Cotto/Pacquiao http://wbcboxing.com/wbcVersEng/ Assuming Arum does pull a childish and obvious duck here are the WBC top 15 This content is protected - Is fighting chavez This content is protected - could be interesting This content is protected - fight already made Billi Facundo Godoy (Argentina) Avtandil Khurtsidze (Georgia) SILVER This content is protected - Personally should fight Rubio first This content is protected - Toyed around with former IBF sylvester This content is protected - Murray did well enough against sturm Domenico Spada (Italy) This content is protected - Already beaten Joachim Alcine (Haiti-Canada) INTL Fernando Guerrero (US) Gilberto Ramirez (Mexico) YOUTH Michael Oliveira (Brazil) SOUTH AMERICA This content is protected - I think he should get a shot soon
Murray is a very good option, then call Sturm out directly, see what he has to say. Maybe Abraham, if he'll come down to 160, Jermain Taylor maybe ready by that time, the only awkward thing being that they both work for DiBella.
Martinez already dropped the WBC Diamond belt so the WBC would use the excuse that Martinez can't fight Chavez (if he beats Rubio) anymore as he will be under no "obligation". If Martinez were to beat McKlin more than likely Martinez will fight Lee next as the fight will be easier to make. IF not Lee his next option will be Geale. Martinez should be aiming for a Taylor fight as that fight might produce good money for him.
Strum won't travel to the U.S. and Martinez won't go to Germany to get robbed. Fight will never happen. Not saying I don't want to see the fight but looking at it in a more objective way it won't happen. Abraham will be a good though but don't know if he is coming to 160.
i think Macklin will give him a good match and do better than Barker did against him!! Lee would be a very tough match for Martinez as he has a very good jab, as has Sturm but Lee has a way better work rate and a very strong chin
My biggest hope is that if Showtime gets Martinez-Macklin, they'll be motivated enough to go back and make Pirog-Geale and he can take on the winner of that fight.
Pirog and Geale are rumored to fight Strum...well that is just a rumor maybe Strum will fight another bum to look good again in Germany.
Geale has a mandatory scheduled at home, so taking on Sturm or Pirog in the near future isn't especially likely but maybe it could be put on the backburner if the money's right. I'd be shocked if Sturm takes on someone as good as him if he doesn't have to, although one bit of speculation I've heard is that he wants to take a unification fight against the weakest available beltholder because otherwise the WBA might finally force him to face Golovkin.
Well the weakest will be Chavez Jr and Arum won't let Chavez Jr go to Germany and Strum won't come to the U.S. so I guess Strum is ****ed. I hope he fights someone worthy that can take that belt away from him that is willing to fight REAL competition.
Sturm will not fight Martinez, no way. I would like to see Ande Lee I think that he has a very good shot
Mayweather if Mayweather will take the fight. Jr. will be out of jail in a couple of months. He coud easily be in shape for Martinez by may or June at the latest. Martinez does not fight more than a couple of times a year so this would not pose a problem for him. My bet would be on Jr. if he were to fight Martinez, unfortunately I don't think Floyd would take the fight, since there would be the possibilty of a loss. Jr. will gamble with money, but not his 0.
