Boxrec have him at #6 and ring don't have him in the top 11.
I dont think he is the 6th best HW, but feel he does deserve that rank based on who he has beaten compared to others around him.

So where would you rank him based on ability and how good you think he is, not based on his record?

    I think I agree with you 9-12.

But it's hard to rank some in the HW division as people like Huck, Adamek etc are obviously much better boxers but the huge size difference might make it hard for them

Just at the very back of the top 10. He dominated Chisora impressively, which was probably the best win at heavyweight all year by someone not named Klitschko. I don't think he's the savior or anything, but even head to head, I'd favor him to beat a lot of the guys other people have in the top 10, like Dimitrenko, Chagaev or Boytsov. I think he gets destroyed by either Klitschko or Povetkin, but then again I have those guys top 3. And for the record, I'm not sure Arreola I actually a better boxer than he is. I think Fury is actually more technically sound. Fury's chin is starting to worry me, however.

He beat Chisora. But he didn't beat a fit and able Chisora. The rest of his resume is thinner than Chauncey Welliver's and David Rodriguez's combined. Both of whom have tried to get the British Champ in the ring, both of whom were turned down because Fury knows if his **** is getting pushed in, it's gonna be for 1 mil+ vs a K2.

Good summary. I think Fury's chin was decent - he took some big shots of a big Chisora. But getting dropped by Pajkic didn't look good. But I think his balance had a lot to do with that. If he comes in mentally and physically prepared then he beats and gives a tough fight to most of the HW's bar K bro's, Povetkin and Chambers.

Fury has potential to get in the top 5 but at the moment I put him outside of top 10.

On ability, I’d rank him 26-30.

But given how devoid of talent the division is, he gets boosted up to somewhere between the 9-12/13-17 mark.

A little bit harsh. He's got more ability than the likes of Pulev and Helenius.

    13-17

I think his chin will get exposed in 2012, specially if he keeps blocking punches with his face.

Top 11-20. Fury is what he is. His lack of power is his biggest problem.

Here's my top 20 atm in order

    Wlad
    Vitali
    Povetkin
    Thompson
    Chambers
    Adamek
    Helenius
    Chagaev
    Arreola
    Dimitrenko
    Pulev
    Chisora
    Solis
    Ustinov
    Boystov
    Fury
    Lawrence
    Mitchell
    Stiverne
    Peter

so that's pretty much how I see it. Fury has a ways to go before I'd rank him higher. Yes he has slightly better wins than Boystov or Ustinov but Fury has needed corrupt refs and dodgy decisions to make it that far. Also I think I would pick any of the 16 names I ranked ahead of Fury to defeat him, provided they were in good shape.

Welliver & Rodriguez have spent their whole careers fighting low level club fighters, they dont have a fanbase & bring nothing to the table.

At 23 Fury is already past wasting his time fighting "no marks" like those 2. He has a tv deal & is watched by millions in the UK, he is entertaining in & out of the ring.
