I've been seeing this term, drawcard, several times on this forum. Is this a real word? I'm not making fun of you, buster. I'm just curious.
Overeem is not a white American, nor is he something close to being Mike Tyson. I do not believe he is the sport's biggest draw. Like Lesnar, his freakish size will draw interest. I just don't think it will be as much interest as Lesnar drew.
I don't believe he is, but he's up there. Even if he is though, it will only be until JDS KHTFO. :deal
Alistair is a big draw. A lot of long time MMA fans know of Overeem from his days in Pride and have followed his career. That is why he has so many fans in the crowd, even though he isn't American. When they were announcing the fighters Friday night, Alistair got a ton of cheers before and especially after the fight. It was a nice showcase for him. He is already well known and now the casual fans know who he is. If he keeps on winning, the UFC has a marketing dream on their hands.
He should have been on the Japan card. He's really known there. Also in Europe where K1 is more known than UFC.
He's the MMA Heavyweight Champion of the World and he's British! :deal I look forward to seeing him defend his title again JDS.
