Good point. Froch might fight only twice a year but they are at least top class, world level fighters.
Question for Buncy would Frank really let Degale fight Froch and get destroyed. Its a shame about the Clev fight i would of gone if he was in against some one half decent.I`m more positive about the state of british boxing then most, last year we had Murrey - Mitchell,Clev-Bellew,Fury-Chisora,Groves-Degale, fights we might not of got in other years but Clevs opponent really is not good enough, had i would be suprised if the arena sold out
End of the day as much as I dislike Fwanks constant knockng of pomoters / fighters outside his stable , when it comes to match making fighters need to stand up and be strong and decide for themselves how they want their career to move Not happy with the fights your getting, or way your career is going, then switch when your contract is up move promoters. You wanna be fast tracked ? Then maybe Fwank aint the best person to sign with ? You wanna be built slowly, then maybe he is a good bet. But also Buncey points about Hatton & Calzaghe, once they had developed beyond being prospects I took only a fleeting interest in their careers until they stepped up their opposition. It weren't about the press building them up for me and to be honest, Hatton & Calzaghe werent getting a great deal of national press coveage UNTIL they fought Tsyzu & Lacy , which were big match ups Its about good match ups Groves v Degale was big because it was a good match up Clev vs Who ? is a sh*t match up
Buncey, the likes of Hatton and Calzaghe weren't getting that much national press until they fought live opponents though Most non fans did not know Hatton before the Tszyu fight So it wasnt like all those defences ' built ' his profile, it was the BIG fight that did it. What builds a fighter profile, is a big match up in the UK, casual fans do not care much about the 40 defences before that lol
Fwank may have got away with these type of match ups when he was on Sky but when you have your own pay channel and have tied some punters up in a 6 month contract, to pull this match up is a dicks move, does his holyness believe this is what we want? Again this is another example of not listening to the fans. Fwank also hasn't got the Sky hype machine behind him any more, how he expects to build his fighters reputation based on this type of match making is beyond me, it really is.
So he wins and remains unbeaten! I actually think this will be Cleverly's downfall...I hope not but I think as soon as he steps up to fight an actual World level opponent he is going to be brought down to earth and thats no good for confidence.
Boxing can be a business AND a sport just like tennis, football etc Boxing has NO COMPETATIVE ARCHITECTURE thus it has a VERY LIMITED FAN BASE. A COMPETATIVE ARCHITECTURE equals MORE FANS which equals MORE MONEY and EXPOSURE for the top dogs. Its a simple system that will never be adopted by the scum who could change boxing.
It must also be noted that "the powers that be" [including Buncey] need to realise that boxing fans don't mind easier fights, they don't like EASY fights. Man Utd need to face Wigan and Nadal needs to play some no name BUT they compete regularly. In boxing, a fight should never go below 60-40. This fight is killing about 6 or 9 months of Cleverlys career because he loses the time before and after it. It's a joke. This isn't keeping busy. It's a ****ing world title. Muhammad Ali faced Wepner but its a fact that he was going through the division like Man City go through fixtures. Ali had 4 fights in 75, Frazier and Lyle were amongst those fights and that was a shot Ali.
I second that Buncey, it seems that what you and boxnation and those interested in it want, and what the fans want are two different things at the moment. Perhaps the idea's been sold to you by hearing it every day or in every discussion but its not what the majority of us feel mate. Don't lose track of us because we're why you are where you are largely. Also regarding Ian, I'd be very suprised if he insulted you on purpose mate- Ians a good guy and i've always found him to be greatly helpful in anything i've neded from him. Perhaps you took what he said or what you heard the wrong way.
When all is said and done we will remember Froch. He'll go down in history and he'll be a talked about Super Middleweight. Guys who are treated like Cleverly etc will be forgotten. Hatton and Calzaghe knew this so once they got big enough they jumped!
Froch is well known and respected in America. A fight with Bute would be a big fight in canada and the US and it's a very winnable fight for Carl. I don't see why he should fight a poor fighter like Karpency when he wants to go in there with Bute. Froch needs the big fights to get himself up for the fight. The fight with Ward and Abraham and Johnson were not fights in which he got beaten up or hurt much. Fact is, Cleverly is going to become the new Calzaghe, fighting nothing but sh*te for the next 10 fights. The british mugs are on here complaining but when I told them that this is what they were supporting when they signed up for BN they were happy to sign up so they should shut up and accept the sh*te they WILLINGLY paid for.
Regarding the long runs for Eubank, Benn, Hamed etc.... Guess what - its the information era.. Everyone knows everything. Everyone can log into boxrec. The wool doesn't get pulled over so easily. Its a different sport and a different world- the sooner ****** and co realise that and stop trying to bring back the glory years the better. Its not going to happen while people are fighting for super interim titles against guys who have just failed in world title eliminators and its certainly not going to happen when you have a world title holder who is yet to beat anyone who has proven themselves to be in the top 20 in the world.
