Discuss....the guy was a great fighter but is now a shadow of his former self....I think someone is going to have to brutally KO him for him to come around to his senses! Hes totally delusional now...dreaming of being undisputed champ again...when all can see it aint ever going to happen. The guy for his own health and legacy should just retire with some pride and not go out having stacked up a load of losses against mediocre competition.

it didn't hurt the legacies of the countless others fighters who fought on too long so it shouldn't for evander.

that threads about whats next for him...mine is about whether his legacy will be tarnished as he continues to amass losses by fighting past his sell by date. Quite different topics really...but there you go.

    Very little, almost nothing.

It would be better if he had retired in 2000, but fighting until 2012 doesn't hurt his legassy so much.

    It hurts him. Poor brain.

In a way I guess, the amount of losses on his record dont look all that good, but anyone that saw Holyfield in the early to mid 90s knows how truly great this man was at one time.

Semantics. Little need for two threads about Holyfield in my opinion. Anyway, Holyfield is completely dellusional, he has no chance of regaining the title & if he fights on will end up with brain damage.

As for his legacy I disagree with what some are saying. I think it does harm his legacy because as it is, as a heavyweight, he has a bit of patchy record & this is only reinforcing that. Sure he will be an ATG regardless but I think the Holyfield situation is quite an unprecedented one & is manifesting into quite a sorry affair.

Any great fighter with the accomplishments of Holyfield certainly tarnishes his legacy by fighting on. Holyfield should have retired after the second Moorer fight.
Fighting and losing to guys like Donald and Toney and Ibragamiov definitely hurts his legacy.
Same with Roy Jones. If he would have retired after the Ruiz fight, he possibly could have gone down as the best fighter ever, in a lot of peoples eyes. Now he is decisioning blown up one dimensional welterweights. :nono

It's annoying, and will make the fact that he annoyed a lot of people become a tiny part of his legacy. :conf

It could tarnish his health and record more so than his legacy IMO.
