It's amazing how nostalgia works...I'm supposed to believe that all other sports have clearly advanced (which they have), except for boxing. Sure . . . What happened is that once boxing opened up to a true WORLDWIDE sport, and the US fighters didn't dominate, those in the US thought fighters simply weren't as good as they used to be. Truth is, the rest of the world is just better. Get over it.
Lol Frazier stopping Wlad.... thats all i need to hear to kno this is just a bunch of haters. Face it, Americans only dominated the Division when most other countries were unable to have Pro Boxers, Now its oh, the division suck cos the Americans gettin the **** kicked out of them. Liston wouldn't catch Wlad and just eat Jabs all night, Frazier would get Blown out!!!! And Foreman, Foreman would knock the **** out of Wlad, causing his bigger brother to jump in the ring fearing for Wladdies life.. Foreman takes gloves off and punches Vitali , but brakes his hand on his Titanium chin
Don't be such an idiot. Boxing has ALWAYS been global, from day one. There's NEVER been a time when there wasn't fighters of every nationality fighting for titles.
Pro Sports were banned in Soviet union in the 70's and now, ex Communist countries are dominating the HW division, is that a coincidence?
Are the HW's the only division in boxing? Is it your theory that a formerly active, MULTINATIONAL political system somehow bred previously unknown physical giants in every different country in which that political system was dominant, only to unleash them on an unsuspecting public when the USSR fell? Go read wiki and educate yourself. Champs have been coming from every nation on earth since the first days of boxing.
Yep! Actually I can see americans being upset over loosing its boxing dominance but what about brits, what's their story? They never had anything good to begin with. Puzzling....
:deal Not only that...but the other countries just got better. Look at the number of foreign NBA players 30-years ago, and look at the number today. It's astounding to see the difference.
We are discussing the HW division are we not?? Why dont u educate urself better, so that u can argue with fact and not change the subject when it suits you How could champs be coming from all the different nations, when many of nations, boxers were banned to go pro, while other nations didnt have the means to train world class fighters. Ignorance is Bliss is it not my friend
In fact, I think he would do quite well overall, maybe losing one here and there depending on the details.
And its not just the heavyweights! Nostalgia affects every fighter in every division. Make a poll on who's better Mayweather or Ray Leonard, or who wins Pacquia vs Duran. 90% of members will pick past fighters over fighters today. Even Wilfred Benitez and Carlos Palomino are seen as superior to Pacquia and Mayweather today by most....
And there is guys like you thinking past fighters are ****, well for example Marvin Hagler was in his peak almost 30 years ago, and guess what no fighter today would came close to beat him, so dont talk if you dont know something, just because he fought 30 years ago doesnt make him ****...or by that "logic" in 20 years K brothers will be **** just because they fought 20 years agoatsch
So wrong, just so wrong, where to begin? Liston didn't have a better jab than Wlad, that's ridiculous. Holmes had a faster jab but it wasn't even close to as powerful. You folks need to release the hate.............:thumbsup
Liston had a better jab than Wlad!!! :rofl That got me! Kind of unrelated, but I'm just watching Ali - Frazier for the first time in years. **** me Ali had some chin - Frazier really put a beating on him, Ali ate so many mean hooks that he didn't see coming.
