Last minute predictions for Khan v. St Clair?

This fight was a valuable learning experience for Khan.

As a contest is was a non event, due to the huge size and reach advantages Khan enjoyed.

Therefore, purely as a spectacle it was a poor fight. For a fight to be enjoyable for me, it has to be atleast a bit competitive, and in only one round (the 7th I think), did St Clair show any desire to really have a go.

 

It was a good win for Khan, but what disappointed me was I thought Khan was a bit negative. He was always on the back foot, & I think hes a better fighter than that. A good win, but Khan should have backed up St Clir more rather than just hit & run all night. I thought it was bad advice from his corner pleading with Khan not to stand his ground against an inferior puncher to himself.
I know they have to be careful as Khan is still young, but telling Khan he cant trade with guys like this I dont think is a good thing for Khans future developement.
Even Warren was at it according to Mckenzie when the fight threatened to heat up a little, screaming at Khan to 'use his jab' instead of letting the lad fight. Al that negative pressure can only be a bad thing, & it showed in this fight. Khan never came out of his shell. I almost got dizzy watching Khan circle the ring endlessly without planting his feet once & going for the veteran.
Onwards & upwards I suppose, but Warren & co must let Khan progress naturally, cos there was too much negativity from Warren & Khans conrermen last night. Let the boy fight, thats what I say.

 

Warren has concerns over his chin, and therefore does not want to risk his golden goose get knocked out, before he reaches the bigger money fights in the future.:deal

 

I actually thought it turned out to be a good test for Khan. Okay he shut St Clair out but he went 12 rounds, paced himself well & looked composed. I've been vocal with my criticism of his opponents in the past but no complaints with this one. Khan picked his punches well, showing a pretty good variety & I think performances like that can be built on & will carry him to the next level.

 

Good performance by Khan he sut him out. Cant help but wonder what this tells us that we didnt already know, we knew Khan had enough talent to out box St Clair to begin with. Still cant go wrong with winning every round and going 12 rounds for the first time.

I still wanna see the Thaxton fight.

 

does anyone think Khan can shut Thaxton out over 12 rounds?

Can I be the first to say that was a **** fight. Good win, flawless performance in terms of hitting and not been hit but that made Skelton seem exciting. Lets hope that was a one off.

 

i think his chin is reasonable, st claire caught him with a few decent right hand albeit he isnt a big puncher, but he probrably snaps a little harder then limmond

 

Decebal... I'm not sure- The win last night was on paper a very good one and he did what was required to get the W. It was very, very safety first and for the first time I really didn't enjoy a Khan fight. I see Boxrec have elevated Khan to number 5 in the world- lol:huh but going through Secondsouts ratings you don't really fancy his chances just yet. I've been pretty impressed at times with Khan thus far but the people 'inside' the game don't seem so confident in his abilities.

He has a fantastic record, he was a brilliant amateur and he is still learning and improving but there is no smoothness about his work. He can box and move but he's not what you'd call a classy performer and I think its safe to say he will not be a lights out puncher at world level. Considering he has been working with Oliver Harrison- an excellent trainer, his infighting ability seems very undeveloped and you worry what will happen when he is put in with someone who can intelligently close the distance and catch him on the inside.

He appears to have no confidence in his own chin and is far happier standing just out of range and letting his quick, stiff punches go as his opponent walks onto him. I believe there is only one world titlist per weight division I've blocked out all these governing bodies and try to steer away from talking about them as much as possible but in this case I'll make an exception- Khan will be a titlist by the end of this year.. I think his mangement are wary of Katsadis and their going to hold Khan back a little longer to make sure its 'safe' but as for Khan ever taking Juan Diaz genuine world champion status... absolutly no chance, Diaz would beat him every day of the week.

 

i think some of this is a little harsh.i think the boy boxed beautifully.untill the last 3 rounds or so he generally held the centre of the ring,got the jab working and through his judgement of distance always seemed to have st.clair at arms length,working those lightning quick combinations at distance,why should he have fought on the inside if he didn't need to?he was in total control throughout.he did seem to get a little anxoious in the last 3 rounds or so and got on his bike a bit,but thats probably due to going that distance for the 1st time he didn't want to get caught with a sucker punch.the jury's still out on the kid especially in the whiskers department but i thought he looked great last night i enjoyed it.
