On top of the rest of his career too, obviously. Which I assume, you being a Floyd fan, you rate fairly well.

Not that I'm having a go at you. I'm a fan of Floyd's also.

But I personally think he'd need wins over Cotto and Martinez (at 154 and 160 for their titles) after both came off a few more high profile wins, to break into the top 20 (on top of the Pac win).

 

I'm always chump. And Floyd isn't the first boxer to touch a women and won't be the last. He's not the most famous one to do it and not even the worse case

 

Martinez and manny is enough. Cotto doesn't do much for Floyd's legacy at this point

 

You're probably right. But breaking into the top 20 is not an easy feat, despite people throwing it around like the word 'ATG' these days.

If Cotto was to fight and beat say Kirkland and Alvarez in a unification fight, on top of his recent Margarito win, it'd add to Floyd's legacy imo.

I want to stress again that I'm just being hypothetical.

In boxing today, I think anyone will find it hard to break into the top 15/20. So I'm just looking at hypothetical possibilities.

But Martinez at 160 would be amazing.

 

I would rank him pretty high, Hernandez his first title was no walk in the perk even though he made it look like one. The Dominating performance of a still at the top of his game Correlas(RIP), his 2 fights with Castillo. His willingness to take on every fighter that Freddie Roach deemed to tough for Manny, Mosley, Marquez and lastly Victor Ortiz. His 154 LB fighe with De La Hoya, no catch weight no weight gain restriction just man vs. man. If you want to rate Manny higher, ask how many fighter at welter did Manny fight without weight gain restrictions.

 

No, but he's still young enough to do it. Another dominant win at 154 and a title at 160 would maybe do it... He could also have and end of career a la Hopkins and still be dominant in his 40's. That would also influence his resume greatly.

It's not a matter of Floyd vs Pac, It's a matter of Floyd vs Legends of the past in the likes of Roberto Duran, Joe Frazier and Sam Langford.

Manny would be the signature fight at welter, he's had them at just about all of the other weights. He even fough Baldimir when people said he was scared buyt then down played it after he took the fight. It just shows in Manny's and Money's case people are just trying to find the fighter that will be either one. The only difference is Manny has stayed with the protect of Bob Arum where Money and De La Hoya Left when he wouldn't give them the fights they wanted.

 

Two years ago...with all the excitement around Pacquiao, I could see one making the argument. But now, even if he demolished Pac, he isn't sniffing top 10.

I've lost interest in this fight...if/when it comes off, it won't have nearly the buzz or appeal it could have had it happened within the first 10 times they tried to negotiate it.

 

No. Now, if he does that to Pac, AND Martinez, then an arguement can be made for it.
