Bob has been around the sport a long time. He stands to lose a lot of money, personally, if Manny gets it handed to him. If Bob Arum thought he could take out the top dog, placing Manny as the PPV king, they would all stand to make a lot more money. BUT, they stand to lose it all if Floyd makes him look bad in the ring. SO, they will take Cotto or Peterson to ensure victory and future paydays. It's all about the dollar SO IF Bob Arum thought Manny would win, he would make the fight in May, which he won't. Some would call this good business sense but look at the UFC. The thing that makes the UFC is that the best will always fight the best. Young guys come in and beat the champ, only to lose two fights later. That makes for entertaining fights. If Arum is conducting "good business", it is for his own pocket, and not for the sport.
its an odd cold war bob arum realized manny's earning power without the risk of a mayweather fight floyd has always been a large draw there is almost no real need for either fighter to take the risk ive argued and swayed and changed my mind a lot on this fight but they are both to blame and so are their handlers this fight shoulda been made by now its clear that neither side is pushing too hard to get it you get a limp dick effort from one party to the other once in a while that gets an even limper response lately its floyd books it and manny avoids it
Its also about power a lot, he is basically using especially pac to gain marketshare and keep off gbp, if pac has to lose he rather have it to be vs one of his own guys than the high risk gbp friendly floyd.
Arum would've stuck the needle in Pac arm himself 2 years ago when the fight was first suppose to happen. Arum knew all along Floyd could beat Pacquiao if he knew that Pacquiao would win or would most likely win he would jumped at the chance to hand Mayweather his first L and would be the proudest moment in his long crooked career.
You could say the same for Floyd, he's making plenty of money on easier fights against GBP fighters. His 0 is at risk too , do you think he wants to go deal with Bob Arum, split up the revenue and risk getting beat when he can fight somebody like Ortiz and make 30 mill?
I always remember after Pacquiao kicked Diaz's ass the interviewer asked Arum about a Cotto fight and Arum said no way are my pitting Pacquiao in with Cotto ! Next fight Cotto gets hit with bricks and loses his 0 and then we know what happened ........
Arum said that its an easy fight for Pacquiao "One of the reasons I never really was so keen on a Mayweather fight which I now truly believe is an easy fight for Pacquiao is because how Manny is going to be tainted by some of the vile things that Mayweather comes out with. Even though he'll be the good guy, God knows what Mayweather is capable of saying. It's one thing to talk about how much better a fighter he is and Manny can't do this or that, but Mayweather, who has no sensibility in this, is capable of insulting the country. The ignorance is so appalling." http://www.badlefthook.com/2011/11/...ao-bob-arum-concerned-about-mayweather-racism
Yeah, I think he's getting bored with it, honestly. He is confident, and has every reason to be. He is bigger, stronger, wiser, faster, much better defense and counter punching. He made Marquez look like a novice, the way Marquez made Pac look bad. Floyd is a betting man, and a smart one. Always play the odds my friend. The 30M is not 100M, big stakes for big money, that's what a gambler looks for.
He's not gonna make 100m , and where did you get the impression Floyd is gamlber? He's been a huge favorite in all of his fights recently, and he's made a lot of money. There's no reason for him to take a gamble, he doesn't have to. He can keep doing what he's doing, and he's not gonna be able to control the money like he is now if he deals with Top Rank, taht's why the fight isn't happening. Both Bob and him want to control the revenue, and they don't wanna share the profit.
50% of 150M is better than 70% of 50M, like by SEVERAL MILLION DOLLARS. Dude, Floyd gambles his ass off. You don't pay much attention for someone who knows so much about the boxing business
